    Valve check?

My sled sits in a heated garage so the cold cold starts are maybe 30 or so. It starts consistently to -30c any colder and who knows. When started cold it will start and die right away, then start on second attempt, idle rough for 30 seconds but stay running. The latter part of this winter i...

    Valve check?

If i did my math right the exhaust spec is .21 mm - .25mm so it looks like all exhaust valves are are with in lower spec except one and it may be in spec because my feeler gauge sizes jumped from .20mm to .22mm so my .20 reading could be .21

Pulling the motor, anything to look out for?

Could stick a couple of big rare earth magnets to the out side of the oil pan to hold pieces from floating around inside pan. or glue a magnet to the oil drain plug. Where would be the best place to put magnets to catch any filings or gear teeth???

    Need help with battery

You can test the stator voltage as well. Unplug stator plug from voltage regulator (3 pin plug). you can reach it through the nose of the sled, its on the passenger side ahead of A arm mounts. Set tester to AC voltage and do 3 test between two wire in plug from stator ie: 1and 2, 2and 3,and...

cannondale thanks for your insight. louvered aluminum plate on the tunnel is what i was thinking . snow was not coming in vents on top of the hood to get in rad . will enough snow come through stock mesh below bumper cause steaming?

    Sealing up front end

my xtx will steam bad in deep snow . I have sealed up all holes in the belly pan with silicone and sealed above A arms where hood has gaps and no difference. i think it has to do with the hole cut in the top of the tunnel for the header pipe because i can make mine steam by quickly spinning the...

Changing bearings on my bogie wheels

I changed my bearings on the rear bogies with no problems in 1000 miles. Unbolt the two bogie halves and use a hole saw slightly larger OD than the OD of the bearing to cut away the plastic that holds in the bearing and drive old bearing out and new one in. NOTE :Cut away the inside of the...

    Starter issue/Replacement Rod Failure

i STONGLY suggest you have the stator checked if any gears are chipped or missing. My starter gear went at 900 miles and was changed on warranty but stater was not checked. Then after warrant ran out the electrical system got weak and wouldn't keep up the voltage any more. i found this...
