The Apex and Nytro ECU's are reprogrammable. Yamaha just doesn't let anyone do it outside of their engineering dept.
Not that I need their permission :)
Slider wear, wheels falling apart, mono skid cracking/breaking, bushings falling apart.. there's a few.
If weight = quality then I'd be happy with them adding 100# or so if the skis actually worked, hand warmers work, headlights could be aimed properly, didn't run over my snow flap and chew...
Half of the clips were gone on my 06 Attak when I changed the track to a Cobra. Had about 3K miles on it. The ones that are still there do not look worn out or anything. Looked at a 06 GT today.. zero clips left.
Don't know.. but I'd imagine a ton of them.
My last set made it 186 miles before the front part burned a hole through.
Burned up in one day.. major PHAIL!!!!
I'm not TOO pissed off cuz they are cheap.. but man.. this is pathetic compared to any other brand of snowmobile I have ridden with...
Yamaha isn't going to fix the old sleds. Its very expensive and may not even be possible using existing hardware. They tried that on the 06 Apex. Some liked it, most didn't. I for one didn't so I made my own controller. Now reminds me of my 2000 SRX and 05 RX1.. nice and hot for when I need it...
Was in the UP heading toward Big Bay from Marquette and hit a big rock that somehow got dug up on the trail. Right side spindle is twisted backwards about 3 to 4". Doesn't seem to be pushed back any, just rotated.
I haven't gotten the sled back yet, so not exactly sure what all parts I need...
I really hadn't ever noticed much of a drone on my Attak until 2 days ago. Ski bolt caught a rock and serious jacked the right front suspension, bent up most everything. Amazing how far you can bend a bolt and not have it shear off. Sled was still rideable, but just barely. Had to limp it back...
Since the ECU does not have a O2 sensor, it cannot detect or measure what the fueling is at. All it can do is look at various sensor inputs and command X fuel based on the fuel calibrations in the ECU.
If it does have a knock sensor (and I am not sure as I have not seen the wiring diagram), it...
I can answer some of the other various questions...
I am not sure about the ECU in the 2011 as being reprogrammable or not as I haven't had the chance to take one apart. I would assume it is although Yamaha does not give this capability to their dealers AFAIK. IMO this is a costly mistake if...
He mentioned he uses J-607 as the CF.. this IS a SAE correction factor so they are SAE certified (unless the CF's are over +/- 7%). J607 is actually obsolete. This CF has some issues with torque losses so you have to be very careful what you enter in (if you even account for it).
I'm not so sure about that.
Emissions regulations for a 2011 are no different than a 2010. Difference from 2007-2009 and 2010/2011 is a slight reduction in HC emissions only. You can get this by leaning the engine out some, but the standard is pretty high to start with. I could calibrate a...
I saw the 2011 dyno data at a private session with Yamaha last year. I was sitting too far away to see the actual numbers vs a 2010, but rough guesstimate was 5-8% more peak and TONS more mid range.
The "track" performance I see on here, and in the shootout MPH numbers, plus my opinion of...
