I too am on a assault. I'm coming from a nytro xtx. I can't see myself going back just due to the weight factor regardless of HP sauce.
Yammy makes a good sled and i enjoyed the throtle response but it lakcked the off trail prowess I desired.
Long story short, keep the assault.
Well this is my first 4 stroke, and Yami for that matter. I am wanting to fog my engine before summer storage.
I need to know what is the best way to remove the cover off the air box? And if that is the best way to get the engine fog into the throttle boddies?
Also what is the deal with...
Did you remove a set of wheels to install your scratchers? Can you post a pic of your scratchers? I bought a set, that are suposed to mount on the rails and am not sure if it would be benificial to remove the front set of wheels in favor of the scratchers. I also herd poor feed back from the...
I too am curious as to what is needed for summer storage. I have owned all 2 strokes in the past and this is my first 4 stroke.
I asked my dealer and he said with the four stoke just to leave it and run it every month or so for 5-10 minutes. No feul stabilizer was required.
What is the...
I used the rubber (boot) provided by Sly dog and I noticed it did not cover the width of the ski monting slot. I never thought much of it as it was a tight fit. After puting on some miles I noticed that the rubbers are all the way to one side leaving part of the spindle with no rubber under it...
I have a buddy who used to have a sled and we would ride together all the time. Unfortunalty during the hardships of the recent recesion he was forced to sell his sleds. I have been lucky enough to keep working and even bought a new sled this year. My friend wants to borrow one of my older sleds...
SDR...What did you put under your seat for a brace? What exaust did you go with? Did you close off the tunnel? If so with what? I think I want to copy you as I like the idea of using the tunnel for extra fuel and storage. What would you say the total cost for the tunnel mods, all said and done was?
I will be home (from the Middle East) Jan 7th and all I can think about is going sledding. But with the no snow conditions that may get put on hold. I have a sickness and the cure is more sledding.....Prey for Snow!!!!!!! I would love to go to Green Water when I get home.
So I have the new 2010 XTX it has two sets of idler wheels along the rails. Would it be in my best interest to remove the front set of wheels and add the scratchers? Or are the wheels better and forget about the scratchers all together? There is no room for both.
Thanks Guys.
Why cant Yamaha offer a factory turbo while Cat and Polaris can? It would seem to me that the R&D team at Yamaha would be much larger and have more resourses at there disposal... Just asking!
Has anyone mounted the rail type scratchers on there XTX? I wonder if it wold be fenificial to remove one set of wheels to make room for the scratchers? I ordered the scratchers and there doesnt seem to be any room for the install.
This was a really hard decision for me. We have a local Poo and Yami Dealer. I have rode nothing but Poo my whole life. MY 2010 was the year I got to snow check whatever I wanted (wifes permision). With the sh*tty year Poo had with there 800 I was hesitant. I decided to give Yami a try. I...
I too removed the tunnel protectors and added the spacers and it has 1-2 inches of sag when I sit on it. I weigh 220 lbs and have the tortion springs set on hard (high). When my wife sits on my sled it doesnt even move...lol.
Walleye where in Sask you from? The last time I saw a sled like that for sale was in Nipawin at the local Dodge/Yamaha Dealer. Like people are saying the 09's have a much better front end. I went with the XTX as well. Coming from Polaris I to thought it was time for a change. I can't wait to...
No your probably right. I never gave it any thought. When I looked at the rubbers they seemed symetrical to me and I just threw them on. I must say it was a tight fit. Thanks for the heads up.

Another bold new model (one made for snow) is to be released in February. Sorry, no photos or facts on this one either. However, over on Sled Talk Chris Reid has been dropping clues as to how a few lucky Canadians will get a chance to try...
