So I haven't posted in a while. But thought this would be amusing while we all wait for snow.
....still have my Nytro. I've said it many times... no reason to change it out. The new front end is a bomb and it's still a riot to ride. Power is really good...not as good as my 800 E-Tec...
So I've been VERY slowly (nearly 2 years now)... working on putting a whole new front end on my Nytro...everything from bars to skis.... to see how much I could reduce steering effort while maintaining handling thru the powder. A big thanks goes out to those true builders Nikolai, Kennyspec...
So, needless to say, a group of us headed out for some trail and off trail riding and sometime during that ride that underside POS plastic decided to depart. Likely a stump, windfall or a heavy branch, but nothing the driver really noticed.
Next we start hearing all these complaints that his...
Does anyone know the caster angle of the new Mountain Viper? I am going thru the last big change to my old Nytro directly aimed at reducing steering effort.....which includes direct steering, new spindles and a 37" x 3" forward design, but before I start building, I was curious to see what...
Question to the collective:
My buddy has a stock 09 xtx with a 1.5 track. Normally he plays in the powder and its hard on belts riding WOT (clutches serviced and aligned so not an issue).
Decided to gear down one tooth to ease up on the clutch load and give him more throttle modulation...
Thought I'd throw this out to the collective to see what the consensus is. Thought there would be more posts but I searched and didn't find much.
153 MTX with a Timbersled Skid. Just switched away from the Arctic Cat skid in there first. No issues with hyfax wear, its been excellent, but I...
Doing the pre season check on the old MTX and noticed a bit of slop in the spindles. Upon closer inspection it appears there is 1/16" or better front to back wear on the plastic bushings. Hiem joints are good (mind you the bottom ones got upgraded last year so no suprise.
2000 km's on mine...
Hey Guys:
Anyone using the Cyclops Penetrator 610 on their sleds? Thinking of eliminating the headlight as I don't ride alot at night, but want something to get me home.
I saw one video of a couple of guys on snowbikes boondocking at night and it looked pretty good.
Very cool idea if...
Guys:
Basically, what are you guys using for corn snow setup with the skinz front end?
So far this season, I have been running pretty low air pressure (55psi left/60psi right) with skis in the middle position on the spindle. Given the snow in my neck of the woods is moving to spring...
In an effort to keep my floor from being soaked with melting ice and snow after a fluffy ride today, my daughter suggested putting tote lids under the sled to catch water.
I also realized this was a perfect opportunity to weigh the amount of water coming off our sleds and more...
Just a word of warning for those contemplating installing a Carbon Fiber Yoshi RS-5 as an undertunnel or rear mount.....DON'T! Choose Stainless or Titanium.
I bought a new CF Yoshi about a month ago and after about 5 hours of total ride time, I noticed it getting louder. Looked back and saw...
Guys:
FOr anyone who is contemplating a trip out east....consider Western Newfoundland, Gaspe, Quebec or Northern New Brunswick...and bring your mountian sleds. Easily 1 - 2 meters of snow has fallen in the last 5 days.
Ill be honest, it absolutely sucked here since early January when our...
Guys:
Odd problem. When I start up my sled, no headlight (hi or low). Let it run about 3 minutes, and voila, headlight. Never flutters after that and is solid.
I know there is a relay for the high/low but not for the headlight. Lights come on when the engine is started.
Sounds relay...
Guys:
Need help on this one. I am replacing my grip heaters with RSI units and a totally new control system...picutres to follow. I read up on the fact that you need to put resistors where the Yami grip heaters need used to be to keep the ECU from throwing the dreaded Code 81, and got them...
Guys:
Anybody help me out on how to bypass the TORS? I searched the subject, but it says join the two single wires together in the harness on the right side of the headlight, but not sure.
I am changing handlebars, trying to clean up my controls and found 2 extra wires associated with the...
Guys:
If you are interested in installing Polaris Gripper skis on your MTX / XTX, I have a cheap and relatively easy conversion to install the Gripper on our Yamis.
Why the Gripper? Firstly, they are lighter, which helps the front of our sleds. Using my 500kg crane scale, here are the...
I just (finally) finished putting the Powerclaw track on my MTX 153, and after the first test ride, I am getting a high pitched vibration which you can feel in your feet. Its most noticable on a groomed trail and not there when you're in powder. I ruled out chaincase and secondary as the sled...
I am putting airframes, new AC skid and pc track on an 11 MTX so decided to pull off the tunnel (easier for airframe install) and get it powdercoated too.
It looks straightforward, remove chaincase, secondary clutch and all the rivets and bolts on the tunnel reinforcing plates, but what...
Any suggestions on Hand Guards that can endure a roll on the side?
I have the Yami Stockers and they are good guards from a protection perspective, but if you touch them....they break right at the threads of the mount. I took the mount and tig'ed in a bigger 3/8 x 3/4 bar mount with more...
Hello:
Just purchased a 09 153 MTX and see that it has 2 positions for the rear suspension to mount to the skid. Anyone using the lower mount, and does it help the powder performance by lowering the angle of attack up front? Looks like a no brainer, but any drawbacks?
