My thoughts:
- Hard to compare ride quality to the stock skid since I didn't run them back-to-back, but I don't have any complaints
- Weight loss is really good for the money based on my experience
- I can tell a big difference between my modded Nytro and my wife's Vector when lifting up the...
I posted about my 141" skid swap experience and a bunch of pictures on this thread https://ty4stroke.com/threads/141-float-skid-thread.150172/page-2#post-1513705
I've posted a lot about my experience over here: https://ty4stroke.com/threads/141-float-skid-thread.150172/page-2#post-1513705
Swapped in a 141 cat float skid - saved a lot of weight!
That's a bummer, interested to see what you get for feedback from Yamaha if you reach out. Given it's 6 years old it doesn't fall into the warranty bucket but maybe you can get them to agree to discounted parts if you document the failure more for someone in the R&D department?
Can you add...
I have a Mountaintech IP vent kit (lets out a crazy amount of heat), Mo-Flo panel vent kit (bought cheap NOS on eBay), and run scratchers on my XTX during low snow conditions. I've only seen the temp light once in over 8,000 miles and it was driving on what felt like several miles of frozen mud...
If I had to guess I would put the dB level between the Skinz Ultra Q (slightly louder than stock) and Super Q (loud), closer to the Super Q.
I ran a used Ultra Q until the flange rusted off and then bought a used full AAEN setup. Nice part about the AAEN setup is it can be repacked and is...
Should be hearing the fuel pump prime with key on, I'd start there.
For what it's worth, one year when I went to pull the sleds out I reinstalled my battery but forgot the negative ground for my Power Commander. Sled would crank but not fire, don't recall whether the fuel pump primed or not.
I'm a little over 8,000 miles (~13,000 km) on my 2009 Nytro. I replaced the donuts some time ago with copper and this past fall I replaced all 3 flex pipes because one of the bellows was cracked.
I contemplated the FX garage fix but with a fair amount of mixed reviews I did all OEM stuff from...
I bought my XF Float skid for $350 off Craigslist and then sold my stock skid for somewhere around $200 plus shipping.
Main drivers for me were weight savings and avoiding the shock blow out issues. I don't know that the float skid provides a crazy good trail ride, but it was almost 40 lbs...
I utilize a handful of different items to keep temps down - Mo-Flow vent kit, Mountaintech IP vent kit, and a set of Skidoo rail mounted scratchers. I started with just the Mountaintech IP vent and I can tell you it lets a lot of heat out! I added the Mo-Flow kit later down the line because I...
Some amount of toe out is typically the best common practice unless you're running something like snow trackers where they specifically reccomend running things parallel.
I did a lot of searching before I purchased a clutch kit. I had heard good things about Schmidt Bros but ended up buying my setup from Thunder Products Clutching when they were at the Milwaukee Snow Show several years back. Initial setup out of the box was really close to perfect, and with a...
All sleds have their pros/cons. At a high level the Nytro has a great motor that will create loads of reliable torque. Biggest thing I would say is getting the suspension dialed in based on your liking and making a few common improvements listed in most signatures.
Lots of good aftermarket...
