I went with the dirt launch turbo because its smaller and has full boost at 3500rpm low end and mid range is awesome and still make 210 hp on 91 pump gas. They also are working on a stage 2 which uses bigger injectors. These turbos are very well known is the short coarse racing classes.
Good luck deciding. I am on the fence also. I like my apex but there are times I wish I had a smaller sled and a sidewinder just dosen't do it for me yet, maybe with power steering.
I have been playing with the gearing on my 2011 xtx with all the Ulmer goodies last season ran a 21 top gear stock bottom with 1.75 track wicked out of the hole but sacrifices top end 104 gps on trail. this year running a 22 tooth and haven't had much snow to test and nothing to compare to...
I ride with a freind who has a new Polaris its a nice machine but only time will tell how it holds up. I can let you know in a year from now. His 2011 800 rush had 3 engine rebuilds in 9000 miles, sorry to say I am not a fan of the sidewinder either Yet. It is going to be hard to beat the apex...
I have an 2011 xtx with 8200 miles, pc5, air box mod, ulmer clutching, clutches cut for overdrive, running a Backcountry 1.75 lug track. stock skies with snowtrackers. 21-37 gears, best I have seen on snow is 104 gps. Going to try 22 top gear next if we get any snow.
I have Ulmers setup work great for me. Haven't really raced anybody side by side but my rpms were off from factory and now they are spot on and back shift is so much better. Its only MONEY!!!!!
Same as Mr sled, just check once in a while and goop them up with anti seize will help a little. I am trying some rust converter for steel this time around but I have a spare cable and going to see if I can get stainless ones made.
