Basically they scratch the ice and hard packed snow create a storm that enters the track area to help lubricate and cool the slides also the spray cools the heat exchanger. And the motor runs cooler. You can deploy them only when you need to use them.

From my experience with the Yamaha sleds when you start them cold don't touch the throttle or shut the machine off until it comes off fast idle. Also plugs other than factory specs seam to foul easier. IMHO

Installed ice scratchers on my ski's from over the top. Sled is ready for the UP.

My 07 attak has 2 plugs. One on the tank you put the oil in and check it. One under that plastic plate in your last picture you will need to take out the three bolts to get to it.

I ordered a blue set for my Attak. They fit perfect and are very big and thick should last for years.

I don't want to sell them. I like the idea of having a spare set with me when I go north sledding. I am running Scotts triple points on my stock Attak skis. I will try them out when I head north in Dec. Thanks

I agree my skid plate only comes off when I change oil. I also have the A Arm protectors I have not got them mounted yet but I will.

Not sure what you are talking about. To get the skid out you should not need to take any wheels off. On mine the two top bolts towards the motor has nuts on the inside maybe someone will help you more.

The hole won't hurt but you do need a filter. He cut that hole to access the battery an or the oil filter.
