    weird cold idle issue

Have you tried setting your idle adjustment on the trail after your sled has fully warmed up? It helps to pull the knob adjuster out of the retaining bracket and straighten the cable while you make the adjustment. Otherwise the bend in the cable creates resistance which makes fine tuning...

3 cylinder genesis 1000 carb sync video

The fuel screws were capped on my 2008. I drilled them out and set the screws to 2005 specs. I do not recall what that spec something like 2 turns out. They were all set differently on mine for emissions.

    RIP John Dee!

There's a nice writeup about him on his site. https://johndee.com/john-dee/

    weird cold idle issue

I used to follow the same warmup procedure as you outlined until someone on this forum suggested a different approach a number of years ago. The suggestion was, in order to reduce stalling and potential plug fouling, to keep the choke on and the engine idling high until it has warmed up enough...

    RS Rage Rebuild- tunnel protectors

Mine broke in half right before the compression joint, where the two halves are pressed together. It broke due to a loose exhaust bracket (the rivets that hold the bracket in place pulled through the tunnel). I have read a lot of good things about the Ripsaw 2 track. I have a lot of damaged...

    RS Rage Rebuild- tunnel protectors

I took the stock tunnel protectors out of my 2008 when my exhaust pipe broke in half. They're not needed if you're not using studs. There's much less ice buildup in the tunnel without them. I have 13k on my sled and will replace the original track at some point with a Rip2.

I can't get these plug boots out!

Yes!!! That worked! Thank you so much! I figured changing plugs once every 16 years might be a good idea.

I can't get these plug boots out!

I was afraid that would break them but will try (gently).

I can't get these plug boots out!

No matter how hard I pull, the plug boots are not moving. There is very little room to work with to begin with, and they have never been off in the 15 years I have owned this sled. This is an 08 Vector. I have read the suggestions here but I don't see a clear path at the moment. Any advice...

    Re-enforcing exhaust system

Ok, cool! I just saw the $1500 price on the link, wasn't aware HF had a $60 model. Yeah, go for it.

    Re-enforcing exhaust system

Or buy something like this. This is all I have used on my sled and it works beautifully.

    sled weights

I may have met you at one point in time, Mr Knapp. There was some turbo Nytro with a conical air filter at the Novi show years ago that held an asphalt record. May have been yours. I also met Tim Bender and Olav Aaen back in the day. All very nice people. Have much respect for your...

    sled weights

True. I removed my tunnel protectors to get rid of 50lbs of ice they used to hold.

    sled weights

Yes, I realize that and I do indeed appreciate your input and conversation. The gas tanks used to be in the front of some of our sleds way back a long time ago. Wasn't ideal for sure!

    sled weights

I often think weights are overrated. When my tank is nearly dry, my sled technically weighs 50lbs less than when full. Never have noticed the difference between an empty and full tank.

    sled weights

Maxsled.com, years ago, performed a similar "wet weight chalenge" where they weighed a bunch of new sleds. The RX, RS models came in at around 660lbs wet. So they weren't all they piggy! Actually they weighed about the same as Cat's 2s twin spar sleds according to the article, which seemingly...

    09 RS Venture Starting Issue

You know what, there is a way to get the speedometer on a carbed Vector to cycle and light up without turning the engine on. I read this on here years ago, and it worked! I don't recall the exact procedure, but I think it involved holding down thumb, hand warmers...whatever it was, it did...

    09 RS Venture Starting Issue

Obvious questions: When was it last started? Battery condition? It will not turn over at all? Did it simply "die" on the trail at one point and will no longer start?

    Carbed vector

Perhaps try calling Travis at Barn of Parts. He likely has both in stock and can let you know if the older one is a direct bolt on.

20hp intake mod on a carbed Vec?

You obviously take the right precautions at the end of the season to prevent pilot jets from gumming up due to stale fuel in the off season. I keep fuel in mine so I sometimes have had to clean the pilots after storage, but using a good fuel treatment plus non ethanol fuel has all but...
