You have the symptoms. Adjusting idle and lowering CO is only masking the problem and not fixing the issue. The rest of the symptoms will follow as you put more miles on it. Most have started at -5 then went to -10 and -15 as it gets worse. After a few more years depending on how hard you ride...
Here's what mine looked like before and after I took it apart.
Ensure your cam chain is tight on the front side of the engine when reinstalling the sprockets and chain.
You're right , you are a little farther then I thought. If he does a good job and you're happy then it's worth it. I wouldn't have an idea what shipping there would be but it may be the same in the end .
Good luck with it. It's a great shock that I feel is underrated . It just needs to be...
You should not have to rebuild the Ohlins EC shock every year . A quality rebuild should last a few years and many thousand miles.
I used Shocktec. He'll replace whats worn so it will last more then a year . As others said , Shocktec or Peak Velocity in our area, both do good work. My Ohlins was...
Simply beautiful Mr Sled! Same reason I just picked up a 16 XTX. I really like the shiny white, haven't been a big fan of the matte
paint the last few years including the sled I just picked up. I hope you both enjoy it sir.
If valve adjustment is not addressed the usual result is burnt valves but it could damage head gaskets . Excessive heat in cylinder.
I'd lean more toward tensioner then chain if you have a slack chain rattling . I contemplated installing the R1 manual adjustable tensioner but went with OEM...
Yes you will . Consider it maintenance. We need to do it before recommendation that's all. All engines of this type require valve adjustments . This is a bucket over valve engine with shims in between.
Cam shafts need to be removed and reinstalled .
It's not a difficult job to do for a good...

Check valve adjustment , it fixed these issues for me and others I know. I just posted something here .
If your high mileage Apex stumbles when it is cold and hunts for proper idle . Runs strong but will stall when coming to a stop after a good pull, will restart right away and set no error codes check your valve adjustment .
You will need to pull off oil tank and delta box for proper access.
You...
Well at least we'll have the piece of mind of new bearings. You likely nailed it with the worn drive sprockets thought. :dunno: I'm about due for a second set and drive shaft again too.
Ride on and good luck.
I just had the same feeling when coming to a crawl - stop. It ended up being my drive shaft bearing. I have 13.700 miles on my Apex and the bearings are replaced every year. I've been going the cheap route with the All Balls kit and have had luck up until this year. Last years bearing that had...
Same here.
I had to do a front heat exchanger last year at 11,000 miles because of a pick and all my exhaust bracket rivets were loose and sloppy,
I used large aluminum back up rivet washers. I started with the front heat exchanger and ended up using 100 rivets in various places like foot...
I put that exact battery in my Apex. Glad I did. This is the first year I've had it in and it always turned over very quickly on the coldest days.
X2 on RD as thrasher said.
You won't be disappointed with it.
You don't need to drill right through. Use a bit slightly bigger then the 3/16"rivet. Just drill the fastening head off. It will usually spin off on your bit once you're through. Then as maim said hammer them out with a 3/16" punch.
Just make sure the multi grip doesn't grab the bottom piece...
X2 on Parkway Yamaha for parts. Great down to earth guys. A quick call to Rob or Murray and in 2 days your parts will be there if not in stock.
Don't use their service though, so I can't speak for that. I do all my own.
Thanks everyone, your opinions are valued.
I'll try sanding the surface to see if any go into the casting at all this coming weekend when I'm with the sled.
I did have the clutch apart replacing ramps and spring. none of the lines go right through.
Looks like I'll be running it and...
