I was over at Ulmer Racing this last weekend. Pulled the track and tossed sled on track Dyno to see what she had for stock number. Then we added their Performer #4 package (clutching, intake, exhaust, Power Commander).
My Stock Viper XTX with Ulmer package number 4 picked up 12 hp low end, 6 hp at peak, and 3 hp running to 110 mph, these are all track dyno numbers. We did not do any addtional tuning to the PCV, just added the map that Allen made last season for winter as far as fueling, but it was 90 degrees out that day so there is more hp on tap on top end or the winter months.
We also did some machining to allow for full shift on the secondary to allow.
The silencer was 3db louder then stock at idle and 6db louder then stock at WOT. This was read inside the shop bouncing off the concrete... so over all its not that loud when in the snow.
Allen stated this info:
Track HP vs engine HP, on our Dynojet 360 track dyno anyways, equals about 55% efficiency.
The mathematical equation I use to calculate engine HP from track HP is below.
Track HP / 0.55 = Crank horsepower
Box Stock SR Viper LTX has 73 hp to the track stock = 132.xx crank hp
#4 Ulmer Kit Viper LTX would have 78 hp to the track stock = 142.xx crank hp
Every engine or track dyno will read slightly different
Also thanks Allen for all the hard work on these kits and all the help you provided me. I had a great time and learned a ton.

We also weighed the silencer and its 5lbs lighter...
Bolts need to go on opposite then stock to fasten Ulmers Silencer.

PCV Bypass for O2 Sensor

Very nice and detailed Tom. Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate (and I'm sure many others do as well) that Allen spends countless hours dialing these machines in year after year.
Did you have the primary clutch balanced/machined in addition to the secondary on the X-TX?

I only had my Turbo Sled Primary and Secondary Machined... Ulmer said it would not help much on the XTX with the gearing it has... I am guessing it wont have enough power to pull it.Very nice and detailed Tom. Thank you for sharing your experience. Just purchased the same setup for my xtx. Sending my secondary in on Monday. Never had any mods to clutches on any sled. I'm excited.

No, I have both. My LTX is turbo charged still and I am going to give this XTX a try without a turbo and see what I think and if I am not happy with that I will have a turbo on it as well. Why no turbo this year Tom?

It's good to be Mr. Sled!
I can't wait for everyone to start riding. Everyone has been doing things to their sleds all summer and it will be interesting to start getting some real world reports on all the various mods and setups.

Right I agree...it is only good to be MrSled some days...LOL It will be nice to get some real world information out there but you still need to be careful because some still might be skewed. But in order for that to happen we need to get rid of this rain and start to get some colder weather. It's good to be Mr. Sled!

Couldn't agree more. I've been around the block a few times and am pretty good at sorting out who knows what they're doing and who just likes to sound like they do. At my age I realize that you have to take everything with a grain of salt and balance what you read and hear with your own judgement and common sense.
Just think Tom, once it breaks it, those numbers will be better!
