It is taking me forever to do a search so I will just post this question to save myself a little time...
I know the 08 front end was updated....what was done and what are the improvements?
Should I look for an 09 front end to benefit from the improvements or is it marginal?
Are all components required to be replaced? I would much rather look into getting used 09 parts rather than new aftermarket, but I would like to know if that would be be worth the difference.
I don't ride mountains...just lakes, bush, break trail etc.

I believe they changed the geometery of the front spidles by moving the ski mounting point forward. I dont think they changed the A-arms at all One way to find out is to see if the part numbers on the microfiche are the same or different between the two years. Time consuming but effective I really dont now how big of an imporovment it made because i just replaced mine with a TS bark buster for the weight loss and other benefits
They also updated the subframe because everyone was having problems bending them up. They really have not solved this issue yet even with the improvments they made to them. they still bend pretty easy if you hit something with one ski in a certain way.
I think they have updated the subframe every year since the '08 Some people on here have made their own gussets to help strengthen up the subframe. However once you strengthen one area it transferes the load to the next weakest link. I would much rather replace an occasional A-arm or a bent subframe then other more expensive parts the all connect to.

Pete, I'm not 100% certain, but I believe the 09 MTX's did not get the updated front geometry. The shorties did, but not the MTX. I think you have to go to the 10 model year to get new front geometry on the MTX. Maybe someone can chime in and correct me if I got it wrong. I hope I'm wrong because I have an 09

Part numbers in there for the 09 Shortie's. The MTX will be different in the control arm length.
