Has anyone changed there anti freeze ?? Cant seem to find a drain plug... is there one, or can you tell me how you are doing it?? Maybe you just drain the overflow jug, not sure... thanks for your help...
 
I think they are like the phazers. I had to pull the bottom hose off the radiator.
 
Pull the bottom radiator hose. make sure you have a big enough container to hold it. More comes out than what you think.
 
i pulled off the hose at the heat exchanger by the oil tank. wasnt to hard. i was puttn in a MTX cooler tho so i had to but i think ud get more coolant out than just pulling the rad hoses off, u still have old coolant sitin in the heat exchanger.
 
Manual says to "tip up the tail" after disconnecting the lower radiator hose. I tried that and little extra coolant came out. I mean like I really got it up in the air! Wish they would have put a drain plug on the heat exchanger :o|
 
Daranello, have you changed your coolant since you bought your sled... your xtx??? i just thought a guy should change it at some point after a few thousand miles... how many do you have on yours?? And you havent changed yours? Sounds like your not planning on it either right??
 
No I haven't. Never change it in my cars so why the sleds. It's not like it's a lubricant. Besides that stuff is toxic

the coolant doesnt stay coolant forever, starts to break down and turns acidic, which i dont want in my cooling system. and they dont use long life coolant in sleds. 2 yrs max life. The protection level will start to decrease after that.
 
I was thinking the same thing.... I do change it in my vehicles , so i was thinking the same thing with the sled... figured 3000 miles it was time to change it...
 
Just want to make sure of the right hose... is it the one right by the oil tank?? as your facing the tank, just to the left of it?? On the bottom...?
 
I never change it in my vehicles or my sled or bike. I have never had a problem. I live where it can get cold as well.

Follow the rad. The large hose at the bottom is the one you are looking for.
 
Even after coolant breaks down, it will still do its job cooling the engine where the radiator acts as a heat exchanger. Straight up water will do the same, cooling the engine but the reason why distilled water and coolant mix is used is so the mixture doesnt freeze/expand and crack the block. Your coolant may not look "old" but what you cant see is the mixture breaking down and turning acidic in turn clogging up your cooling passages in your engine, hoses, seals and water pump. Its way better to change it out on the cheap rather than have a seal/gasket blow out on the trail and draining all your coolant leaving you stranded because after all, who carries coolant with them?

The only time I change it is when I have a problem were it requires changing a hose, water pump, rad etc. Other wise never do and here too some time we do get cold...winterpeg I think they call it
