Can someone point me to a thread or provide some pictures of the oil filter change. Just want to know what is involved before I tear into it. I heard its not fun, but gotta learn sometime! Thanks

I had this thread open when I did my starter and it was an immense help.

I removed the airbox, used a big pair of channel locks to get the old filter loosened up, then replaced with a K&N filter that has a nut welded on the end.

Very Nice thinking outside the box

Thanks for the info. What's the background on the starter issues? What years, what percentage failed, etc?

Wish I had thought of that 2 years ago when I did my first oil change.
Great idea!
I too have a K&N installed for easier removal now.

This is what i meant to clear it up if needed. I was changing my filter today thought i should take a picture. All it takes is a few taps to loosen it up and then remove the clamp and turn by hand.

Very nice, that will come in handy until I get the K&N filter on there. Does the bolt on the hose clamp clear the part on the left of the picture or do you loosen it and start over?

Yea it clears the parts on the left but does not clear on the right. However by the time you get it around the there you can loosen it by hand. I used a solid part of metal and the screw driver to pry the clamp off the top of the filter and did the rest by hand.
