So today I was peeling off my old permit from the side of my windshield....see my avatar to the left. I had just finished peeling off Harmony's old one too. This is getting pretty ridiculous, they are brutal to get off!!
So upon stairing at my sled and about 3 or 4 beers
into the afternoon, I realized I could make a 'plate' holder to stick my permit to!! No more sticking a god awful ugly sticker to my $15000 (cdn!!) sled!!Here are some pics!!

you should be ok on the trail with that sticker location, supposed to be on the windsheild but we let it go.im a trail warden and our job is to make sure everybody purchased and placed there sticker on the sled in a location that is easy to see,but we dont give a hard time if its sticked in other locations such as behind the windsheild or side of hood,we just suggest that they stick it differently the next year.if its in your pockets we have to get you to stick it right there, nobody should run with it in there pockets, its not fair for others

Nice job!
LOL!! Neither mine or Harmony's new permits were with us!! And like I said, I was already finished peeling off the old ones and 3
later, we couldn't find the remains of the old stickers, so I had an old windshield laying around and grabbed that 2004 permit to size up!!LJ 452

I put mine on my riser last year and was thinking about doing the same thing with a plate or something. There are several reasons for this, one, as with you I can't stand the thought of putting a bright pink (MI) sicker on my perfect sled, and two if something were to happen to my windy (I wasn't sure if I was going to switch to a taller one or not) I didn't wnat to have to get another one. I ended up having to buy two anyway, forgot one at home on the first trip. Anyway I had two DNR's stop me and ask were it was. I pointed to it and they said "oh ok I just didn't see it" I said no problem have a nice day and off we went. It's no different then having on a tall windy so unless they are real A$$ H@les I wouldn't worry about it. If worst come to worst just use the not sure about the windshield yet excuse.
Very nice work looks great!!!

Its funny the things we come up with when there is no snow and we are bored out of our minds! I took the 06 Ontario stickers off my wife's and my sled earlier this year and they were a real pain. You have to keep a rag wet with paint thinner and rub for what seems forever. I know a guy who found that using acetone on the sticker takes the permits off easily. The only problem is it ruins the windshield also!

Sweet idea man!!!!
That is so where im putting my permit, if you dont mind me doing the same as you!!. Cuz I am so not ready to put that permit on my new Attak.
Another neat thing I came across myself, and although its not really realted, thought id say it anyways. On my 2002 Honda fourtrax 350 4x4, I mounted my warn winch solenoid under the guage shroud, and it just site right in on the guage cluster studs. so all you have to do is loosen off two nuts, slide on the solenoid, and put the nuts back.
For you guys trying to take the stuff from the permits off, the best thing ever is that cleaner that linesmen use to clean the wires before they join them. This cleaner comes in little packages and it isnt corrosive or anything and is orange scented, and it takes off all the stuff you dont want, including the black residue from two strokes, and doesnt damage anything else at all. Nothing else comes close to this stuff.
