I was wondering what u guys thought of using sea foam. If i use it how much and for how many tanks/miles? Can i still do WOT runs with this in my fuel?

thanks :yam:

I think you can even put it in your oil if you want to?

I didn't believe all the miracualous things I read about Seafoam, so I tryed it. I'm into the third season with my 03. It had an unsteady idle, so I thought it might need a carb cleaning. My carbs have never been apart. I have run it for 2 days, and it did absolutely nothing.

I'm not saying Seafoam isn't as good as 50 other carb/injector cleaners, but if there's no problem, there's no fix. People are adding it to low mileage engines because "it won't hurt to add it". That's great, if you are so inclined, but don't make unrealistic claims that aren't based on fact.

I've got a 97 XT500 that has not been touched, and not had any additive. It runs great. That's 8 years without Seafom. My neighbors Toyota pickup is still running great with 385,000 miles without any additive. I think most owners manuals say they are not needed.

I'm not into additives, but it did clear my weedeater. Its a better alternative to isopropyl for displacing moisture.

Weedeaters are a good example of an engine that needs that kind of product. The gas tends to get stale, and causes problems in the carb. Most of us don't store them properly.

On the otherhand, an engine that is using high detergent oil, and fresh gasoline that has cleaners already in it, and not stored with untreated gas doesn't need additives.

Seafoam is a good stabilizer and 'cleaner' but like othe additives not a miracle cure all. It sure has cut down on my fuel / varnishing problems. I only use it when it is going to sit awhile. Yamadoo

I'll agree with Yooper and Yamadoo. They have valid worthwhile points. You don't need to use it all the time or if at all.

I don't store mine properly. And it did clean the carbs out. I'm still only on my first tank of gas, and it's still got a little hesitation when you pound the throttle, but I'll let you know how it reacts by the second tank which many people stated is what did the trick.

Hey lazy, sounds like a dirty engine there!!!!

I use it in my last tank of gas for the season for storage and then again for the first tank of the season. I have had no problems. ;)!

Anyone use Marval mystry oil???

I haven't used Marvel Mystery oil in about 15 years. I used it in one of my vehicles when it had some lifters ticking. Poured some of that in the crankcase about shortly before the oil change. It cleared it up and never came back.

Well, just for the fun of it, I tried the stuff, and the only thing different I notice is that 3 plugs fouled since starting with that crap.
Probibbly all that odd oil, that you used up that was sitting around your garage. LOL
