Going to try this setup. Header is an Excell for a Vector. The snow deflector on the end is removable so I can try a few different combos or shapes if need be, just want to keep the snow out of the end of the pipe. I know this system works on the Apex so it should work on the Nytro as well.

Do certain exhaust pipes take away from performance, like on a car? You would think with guys trying everyhting from glass packs to motorcycle exhausts; that performance could go up or down? Not saying that one is better then another. Just wondering

I can't personally see (I'm sure someone is going to argue, whatever) that 1 straight thru exhaust is going to be a whole lot different then the next flow wise. The amount and length of baffling will obviously alter the sound and I suppose the flow to a small degree but they gotta all be within a horse or 2 one way or the other. JMO

Nice build you got there. I am doing a similar although much less refined build as you, with a Vector header and a Hindle can. I am also going to put a snow blocker piece just aft of the exhaust outlet but I think I will use some sort of sturdy screen to let some flow through while still blocking 90% of the snow thrown up. I will advise if successful.

If this setup is too restrictive I'm going to swiss cheese the plate behind the pipe.

I am going with the full Excell system which includes a new header plus a straight through Excell silencer exiting in the stock position. It will be interesting to do a side by side comparison on performance.
I can't wait to see what you are doing with your seat. Underseat storage or the Raw look. Keep us posted.

I'd be surprised if there is much difference. your sled will however take some time to loosen up/break in. You won't see full performance on day 1 it'll take a few hundred miles at least before we can compare.

I would like to know if it messes with the fuel injection? Like Nikolai had a throttle response problem with the MBRP he put on his.
I have a glass pack on my vector and now it will not cold start unless I am controlling the throttle.Started right after I put the exhaust on.

I ran a glasspack on my RX1 for a season no problems. I talked with a few guys who ran them on their Apexes and they said once they blocked the end off from snow injestion they were fine. I will likely need a programmer to smooth out the FI, I will for sure if I do some airbox work as well. As for your problem I would be surprised if it has to do with the pipe, more likely the carbs. What do your plugs look like?

I recently put a glasspack on my Nytro as well. Undertunnel style. I haven't had it outside yet, but have started it in the shop. IMHO it's pretty loud. And I'm usually the guy who likes it loud. What does everyone else think? I haven't had it outside yet though, maybe it will be better out there.

It will be better outside for sure. When we are riding in 6" or more snow you don't really even notice how loud it is. It's not as loud as my turbo with the tunnel dump so everything is relative I guess.

I guess I will wait to change it out then until I am able to get it in some snow.

I am not real sure what the plugs look like. It runs great when it is past its warm up cycle. I know that I had 0 problems prior to the glass pack and after the install it would not idle like it is suppose on cold start up only.

I know it would be overkill but an A/F would tell you exactly what's going on. Does it run better with the choke on (means its lean)? What is your idle set at?
