If the RX-1 is nick named the RX1ton by the bashers, what should we call the MachZ that is a measley 5 pounds lighter :ORC

It's pretty easy to get lighter with the RX-1 too. Swap out the seat or Exaust alone and either one will drop over 10 pounds.

DID ANYONE NOTICE BESIDES ME THAT 95% of the sleds that were DEALER PREPED went SLOWER??

12.55 isnt that great either for the Rx... 12.2 would be alot better and fesiable if they got the 60 foot time a little lower..

The only sleds that actually benifited from the clutching was the MACH Z and the XC 600.. not bad for a 600..

GOD I WISH I HAD SOME SNOW AND A 1/4 TRACK AROUND HERE WHERE I COULD FIND OUT HOW MY WARRIOR WOULD DO IN THE 1/4 MILE!!

SRXSPEC.... They must have installed there SLOW DOWN KITS AGAIN...LOL

Brian..

Looks to me like the ZR9 is going to give the Mach all it can handle. Out of the box it crushed the Mach.

Yamaha is right there

I just got my snow week today also. Wow considering this is strictly an acceleration test I think the new Yamaha's showed great! If you consider full wet weights the Fusion with a 11.8 gallon tank would increase by about 12 pounds vs the 10 gallon RX-1 making it only 19 lbs lighter than the RX-1 and that is without E-start. The Mach Z will weigh at least 7lbs more full wet. Plus the Mach has less suspension travel than the RX-1.

When compared full wet and with electric start the new Yamaha's are right there weight wise especially considering the competition is 2-stroke twins. In acceleration the Vector is close to the 600s (and the Polaris and Arctic cat posted much higher HP readings than they had previously at Dynotech the magazine even mentioned they thought they might be cheating. The RX-1 acceleration is right there posting competitive ETs and faster mph readings than some open class sleds. And the RX-1 was really marketed and priced to compete against the 800s. To me seeing the perfromance is this close and after riding the new monoshock I'd say it would be hard not to buy a new RX and this comparison doesn't even count in the fact that is is a 4-stroke and all of those benefits....

Any foot note on wether the Mach Z was running its time after the 4 hour "chip' thing. I got buddies I ride with new Machs and I am just thrilled that they cannot call me mister one ton. 05 RX1

I can't help but think my little ECP/HH kitted 05 RX1 is gonna be right in the mix with alot of unsuspecting stockers in the class.

The reason for the slow downs in dealer prep runs were track conditions. The first runs were done on hard ground with a dusting of snow, but as the day went on the ground turned to a sloppy muddy mess. They make mention of this in the article and were surprised that the XC 600 and Mach Z made gains in dealer prep. In dealer prep the Mach Z was reclutched slightly and the XC was reclutched and the air box was gutted.

The Mach Z had the break in chip still in it as it hadn't been run the 4 hrs required to remove it I believe.

The MACH Z "will" wake up.
My good friend has a MACH Z and you can see it every time we go out on the lake.
The first time out it ran like it had an anchor attached. Couldn't believe how slow it felt. Tach at 8300 (too high). Having had many a Ski-Doo, I knew the chip needed to be burnt in and the rpm were too high. At about 75 miles we changed the TRA primary from the factory setting number 6 working our way up to #1 (7600rpm). The sled got faster as we changed the settings and dropped the rpm's The sled "flys" on the snow. Lake with 1-2 inches of fresh snow had the MACH at 116 radar with his T-Cat at 112. MACH chip still not burnt in!!
Now we know the T-CAT will post 122 (radar) on 1/2 mile ice track.
The MACH is strong, smooth, and will only get faster.
The track in here in OTIS is ready and fast!!!
The MACH won't be back in town until next week so I'll report back on how it runs the 1/2 mile.
FYI..... my 03 RX-1 ran 117MPH on radar today on the 1/2 mile track.
The MACH will be faster....much faster!!

Based on the HP the Mach Z dynoed at I'm sure the ski-doo guys switched the chip.

One other point however is that Yamaha was not allowed to supply 4-strokes with broken in motors. The RX and Vector will be even more competitive after broken in....
