Just wondering wheres the best place to purchase these skis for a decent price from and relatively good person? Been searching around and I cant find one, KJmotorsports seems good, but Ive also heard Ulmer racing is another option. What are your guys thoughts and if you have anyone else I can look at let me know.

Ordered mine 2 yrs. ago from Ulmer. Got my carbides right from Bergstrom's shop. Both great people to do business with ;)!

I had a great experience with KJ Motorsports and Myers Racing has some good deals on them also. Most of the vendors on this site are top notch!

I bought mine from kjmotorsports. Kyle was great to deal with.

How do these skis perform? Just got some on the apex and wondering how they do on the trails.

They are all black powder hounds w/4" carbide. Thanks

Maybe with so much power and weight you could have went with a bigger carbide 6" or 7.5". I have 6" Studboys on my VL and the steering effort is not hard at all which I thought it would be with these carbides - a big improvement over stock where I had to fight to keep control and it was always tracking and you would have to fight to get out of a rut. But these just steer right out with ease. The only thing on ice you have to be a bit careful and counter steer sometimes - but it turns on a dime. Otherwise the flotation is good and it is a good all round ski. I added some ski savers which give a little more bite as well.
I am not yet convinced that they are a sturdy ski but time well tell and others report good results with them.

Hope you like them,

Thanks, the guy I bought the sled from was insistant that I never run bigger then 4" carbides said it turned to hard, I think it may have been poor set up, I have run 8" and up to 10" before with no issue. We'll see I'll run it out first and see how they act. Looking for decent trail manners and better flotation then my previous simmons gen 1's all of course with no darting

Kinger. I run them on my Attak with 8" Triplepoints. Steering is light but positive. Flotation is fantastic. Durability is +A. Anyone who has ridden with me can attest that I am NOT afraid of logs, rocks, gravel, or any other thing I might encounter while riding. With a 144x1.5 track and my 280 lb. body, there are few things that slow me down LOL. I can't believe you'll be happy with a 4" carbide. There must be a tremendous amount of weight on those skiis if they'll turn with that small carbide on there. Any other questions, just ask!!

Triple points rule the world, man they are nice. I will give the little guys a shot but yeah your right i have never been happy with too little carbide, the way we ride I need to be able to turn and just bulk up the biceps if it turns hard.

How does your 144 steer in tight trails, is she a beast or not to bad? I have been 121" all my life and thinking of going to a 144 on the zx2 just to try it, you know me cant leave well enough alone!

Having been on a 136 sled for 5 seasons now, the difference wasn't as drastic as I first thought it would be. Haven't rode any real tight trails like we get in Wi., but don't see that being a problem. At 6'3" annd the above mentioned 280 lb., I can make it turn LOL. Off trail with the Expert being setback, it's a HUGE change. No more trenching to China, and carving and climbing are a blast. On tight 2 tracks it turns well enough to make short work of just about anything I've encountered. I wouldn't have any second thought's of doing the 144 again! Might just resurrect the Viper in a 144 LOL!

Well since this is what we are talking about now. I might as well say I got my zx2 on order... going 144" What really sucks is I dont think I will make it to michigan 09/10 winter.... Iam in paramedic school which takes most of my time when not working.

i used the powder hounds on my apex this year with dartless, they steared so easy and didnt dart any that i could see. those skis do look flimsy, they are the lightest thing i have tried but I have not ever seen a post where anyone broke one.

the dartless combined with that tapered in keel really make these skis turn easy.

kinger what exactly did you buy?

Hey BTV,

I bought a 2006 apex GT that is supercharged and has lots of goodies on it. It came with slydog powder hounds, the upgraded mono, the upgraded SC with BOV, 10T drivers new gearing, etc. Lots of things and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it if anything LOL
