You might be able to tell by my flurry of activity that I took the cover off my sled to make sure the mice hadn't chosen it as their new home. I'm happy to report there was no indication of mice, yet anyway. My little peek got me thinking about all the unresolved questions in my mind for next season.

I have 1,000 miles on my engine now. Is it time to switch over to synthetic or should I continue to use up the case of RX-1 specific Yamaha oil I have in my garage?

What about filters? I have a Fram filter for a Yamaha R-1 motorcycle. Do you think the Fram filters are better or worse than the Yamaha or a rebadged Fram with the Yamaha name? I was going to go ahead and get another Yamaha brand filter before the oil change. Should I do this? Powder blue

I was wondering the same thing, well not exactly. I just picked up my warrior and was wondering if you have to use the Yam 4-s oil or I can go to sythetic right away. Powder how expensive is the Yam oil?

You will hear a ton of opinion on this... I can say that the dealer I work pt time at will NOT even attempt a engine warranty claim on a Rx model with synthetic oil in it.

Mcdoug, I can't remember the price of the Yamaha oil. It's not cheap but it's a lot cheaper than the synthetic oils. At some point I would like to go to a synthetic oil but I still wonder if 1,000 miles in enough miles to assure a good breakin?
The Amsoil oil something like 0-15 weight sounded like a good one to try but I'm just a little hesitant at this point unless everyone can dispell the worries of the kind described by Mr. Grape Ape. Powder Blue
