Has anyone dropped the skid out and looked at the three gaping holes the exhaust header pipes go through? The track throws a huge amount of snow in this area. Where it would melt and run down behind the motor and the air from the clutches draw it in and throw it everywhere. I tried the silicone/foam tape/ duct tape in all the "spots" with little to no help. I eventually just blocked off the whole footrest and that was ok. This year I'll try the plate under the clutches and put on a set of windage plates I have laying around. I'm tired of my new, gore tex boots only stayin dry the first half of the day. I would like to keep the footrest "open". What do you think about blocking the holes around the pipes?

No, I polished nothing. I just washed the corrosion protection oil off as soon as I got it out of the crate. If it looks polished it is either because of the camera flash, or the fact that the finish of all sheet metal parts is impressive. The tunnel is the brightest and most shiny OEM tunnel I have ever seen! Good work with sorting out the tools, Yamaha!

I came across those three gaping holes while changing out my track this summer. I must of used a whole tube of silicone to fill them. The one on the right side is big. Not sure if it's going to help, but it was worth a try.

that would make sense why how that much water is being melted and thrown by the clutches.

I just ordered one of these plates from my local dealer for $21. He didn't have the PN in his system from Yami yet, but after a few calls he was able to get the part ordered.

I think I need to order a plate. My foot gets wet every time unless I wear my bunny boots. It was always so strange to me how a modern sled could soak my left foot and I never experienced anything like in all my years of snowmachining, You'd think the old '77 Polaris TX 250 that I started off on would have soaked my feet! Nope.

I have 200 miles on my sled and I never had the wet foot,I know 200 miles is not alot but should be more then enough to experience the wet foot problem. Are you guys experiencing this is certain conditions??

200 miles for the year? That would explain why you haven't experienced the wet foot. Ride 200+ in a day and then you will end up with a wet foot.

From looking at the snow in your avatar picture, it looks very hard and set up. I didn't notice a wet foot problem in those conditions. I'd experience it any time I rode in powder or uppacked snow. In cold, single digit temps I'd get a soaked boot but my bib pant leg would have ice at around mid shin.

The way I'm thinking about this plate is this. The Apex I had is similar in construction, meaning there is a lower pannel mounted to an aluminum front structure. Rear exhaust holes as mentioned, side pannels, vent holes in the back of the side pannel. You get the idea, the only main difference being the Nytro has a rad up top. Now the Apex has a plate in the same spot, or close to as my S.E. I always thought it's purpose was strickly to protect the coolent hose. It appears there is a dual purpose that may not have been known until this year. I never had a wet foot on my Apex. I guss well see if this plate does the trick.

What about adding one of those aftermarket vents for the clutch heat and what not, and blocking off the holes in the foot wells? Think that could accomplish the problem? Just and idea. Nothing worse then wet/cold feet or hands. Makes for a very long day

Closing up those holes may help some but you may still have other places where snow/water is getting through.
I found early on a pencil sized hole in the tunnel just below the secondary clutch. The track turning pushes snow dust out where it was melted and spit out onto my left boot as water.I also had water running down the side of the tunnel and onto my inside leg/boots coming from under the seat/gas tank-exhaust melting snow on top of tunnel probably.Mabey the holes you found.
There are also gaps in the side panels where snow gets in and also snow can get in the vents.
Put a drop light inside and out to find the panel gaps.
I filled the hole and have prefilter material to put over my hood vents and I will fill the panel gaps before winter.
