Not sure if I'm breaking any site rules (because I don't think they are a site sponsor), but I recently read a small article featuring Ron and Laird MacDougall and the work they do ... some nice photos of their latest builds too. Anyway, thought I'd share this in the mountain section. Hope it's okay to do so, but if not the mods can take it down.

Pretty impressive stuff!
Some of their sleds are works of art. Like this one for example

Now if Yamaha had come out with this from the factory with the nytro motor popped in I would not have even considered any other sled!
I can't see a reason why Yamaha was unable to develop something along these lines in house! Hell they could have even bought the design for less cost than they likely spent integrating in to the cat production line.
I did contact these guys and they were quick to reply .... pricing wasn't outrageous (around $13,00 for bare frame, tank, and cooler unto $25,000 for a complete rolling chassis) but it was based up around the 4 cylinder engine (donor sleds) rather than the nytro.
Had Yamaha gone this route they would have a sled to really be proud of and would most likely give all the other OEM's a major #*$&@ kicking!

You can have the frame built for the nytro engine as well. They've done several that way already.

They are nice looking rides for sure. There's a lot more pictures in the "Members Sled" forum on Snowest.

Though about it but you still need donor parts (chaincase) from the apex ... unfortunately ended up to be a too $ for the short season we get here.mike g said:You can have the frame built for the nytro engine as well. They've done several that way already.

I met Ron last year. It is really cool stuff that he does. I like his manual transmission honda cbr sled. Wow that thing must take talent to drive.
