i broke another headlight mount in a low speed roll over (2 mph) has anyone come up with a good way to fix these. i try epoxy and it worked for 2 weeks, i was thinking about removing whats left of the mount and riviting on a thin piece of angle iron or aluminum behind the reflector below the headlight ajustment screw. any pics would be appreciated

I think member BLUEDOG went to a machine shop and had aluminum tabs fabricated and attached. I am not sure if there have been pics posted on this site or not. Might come up in a search if you managed to pick the right keywords. This would be a simple job for a machine shop, prolly dont need pics

I did the same thing. Used nylon straps to hold mine, 2 on each side. Can hardly tell the mounts are broken from the outside - very stable. Just drilled some holes in the plastic, fished them through and tightened them up.

i just took mine today to a body shop to see if he could plastic weld it, i'll post the results later today when i go pick it up.

I have tried JB Weld and Devcon Plastic Weld. Both broke after a single ride. Next step is aluminum. You have to buy the headlight assemply according to the parts diagram and it is over $100 to replace it!

I like the ty-wraps. If you roll again....ty-wraps are cheep.

Got her back today and reasembled it, weld looks great. Only time will tell if she holds up.

Had the same problem at the end of last year. I had a buddy of mine who did some custom car work put it back together with a fiber glass kit from
wal-mart. So far so good. He repaired the one side that I broke and put another layer on the other for more strength.

Did the same thing as last picture above... Been riding two whole seasons like that without a problem... I think its stronger that stock to!

Yamaha was asking allot of those skinny little mounts when you consider the weight of the headlight pod, plus add a mid hieght shield,and a windshield bag full of junk,one big crushing mogul SNAP.
