anyone use or used the "touring kit" for rx's? I bought leather bibs and they are a bit thin on the knee padding so I am getting cold knees. I noticed Yami makes a small kit with wind diverters. Anyone have experience with these?? do they work??

I bought them from Royal Distributing for over $100 less. Don't get them from Yamaha.

I bought them for the mirrors, but they are poor at best. They do help some with the wind and for $35 (if I remember correctly), I say go for it.

Indy... does the underarmor give wind protection and maybe warmth??? I have some Nike dri fit stuff, but no pants... what is your experience with them?

less bulk, much warmer, air only goes out, just don't let anyone see you in them, not a pretty sight. lol

funny.... are they warm as the old thermals??? I were some under my jeans... maybe these can replace the thermals

I have both the Nike Dri Fit and Under Armor ColdGear. The DriFit work OK when it's fairly warm (20-30 F) , but offer no insulating value. The Under Armour ColdGear is perfect in just about every temp. I wear top and bottom, and keep a spare set to tradeoff when on saddlebag trips.

God, I hope that red/white/blue getup wasn't them????

I assume the "touring kit" is the little black wings with mirrors that are on my sled. They were on when I bought it used from a dealer so I assumed it was stock. Riding in the below 0 temps of northern NH, ME and Canada, I have never had cold knees with just my fox racing gear which is more like a windbreaker suit than winter suit. Those little deflectors must be working, plus it makes for a good hidden spot for mirrors.

I had enough of the cold knees and hands so I ordered the biggest windshield I could find.

Its not pretty but at least my knees will stay warm. It provides more protection for the hands as well. Depends what you want!

I think the windshield is just what the doctor ordered. I do way to much touring in near -20 to -40F conditions. Last year I about froze my knees on one real cold trip. This windshield will hide even me behind it.

Ok so its huge but thats the point.

I have KLM pants that have shin/knee pads in them. Much like motocross pants but not tight obviously. My knees never get cold.
I never even thought about it. I just happened to me talking with someone this weekend who complained about the same thing!

Grimm, I got my set in the mail. they look to be nice quality, but they have no mounting instructions! :o| I had no idea you had to drill into the cowling, as I am assuming that is how they mount as they came with screws. I wonder how well some 3M tape would hold up??? how did you mount yours?

I get so stinkin hot that I am taken cloths off. Better quality equipment, or ride harder, one or the other should work!

if you look on the inside of your hood there are little buttons on each side that you drill through to mount them. i am just a lazy #*$&@ and have not mounted mine yet. i did post the yamaha instructions in here earlier in the season for another guy. the link is from my photo bucket. so ill link it again.

I just mounted them and they do not fit flush with the cowling :o| :o| The rubber grommets dont compress enough to get the pieces to touch flush and I cant believe it... I can see them rattling in the wind. any ideas guys?
