Excel Header loss down low

I have the Excel header and pipe setup on my MTX. Don’t notice any loss at low end - but can definitely feel the upper end add. I have compared side by side MTX's with and without the Excel setup.

I do not have K&N filter yet... I tested a PC5 in Feb and noticed a smother curve and power with just the PC5. I will be adding a PC5 with auto-tune as well as the K&N filters and probably going to a 18/40 gearing from 20/40 as well as going to a 162 from 153. (if anyone is interested in a camo 153 with IceAge rails let me know - looking for a powerclaw 162)

Proper clutching goes a long way in the setup though too. I have Hartman's setup for low elevation and use the stock helix and different weights for high altitude. Lot of people like Ulmers clutching though too. I don’t think you can go wrong with either of those two's clutching setups.

my xtx last year...660' before full setup...best 94 mph dreameter....after full setup 104 mph dreameter...

absolutely different sled...

plugs...header...power commander...shot gun silencer...k&n filters...clutching...

If you look at the raw data, you will see that the Excell header actually becomes a little richer (look at the BSFC A line on the dyno sheets, the higher the number the richer it is) when comparing it to the stock header. I'm sure this is a small amount of reversion caused and especially shows up when it's warm like 65* in the dyno room (noted on the right side of the dyno chart). If you were to dyno at 20* I don't believe you would see any loss at all as the sled it self would lean out a little. I have not noticed any low end losses at all with the header into the stock muffler.

See the attached PDF dyno runs.

With a fuel controller you should be able to pull out a few more HP i would think. Again nice numbers ;)! What rpm would you run the engine for drag racing..8700 looks like a sweet spot..but alot of people say that a motors peak HP will be higher in the field then on a dyno.

take a look at the Sheet again. the green line which represents the Header add on only shows a 2 to 3 hp loss from 6000 to 6500. From 6600 to 9000 the excel header add-on only stays way above stock. 2 to 3 Hp losses at 6000 RPM's is nothing. It's when you start dropping 10 to 20 HP you have a big problem.

The red line which represents the header, Muffler, Filters, and Fuel programmer add-ons shows no loss at all from 6000 to peak. the HP and torque gains are substantial all the way throw the power band. it's not peaky, it's broad and flat from top to bottom!!!!.
