a friend of mine bought an 08 ltx gt 40th anniversery sled with very low km. but the harness for the rear shock was torn off so he replaced it with a new one but still can`t get the shock symbol to appear on the speedo screen we checked the ressistance though the shock servo it comes up at 4.6 ohms which from what i re seached is correct, supposed to be between 4.1---5.1 anyone have any suggestions of what to check next ????? i`am going to trace the shock harness back to see if everything is looking right on the other end. other then that i`am running out of ideas. .

Did you replace the whole top solenoid on top of the shock? Those can go bad when the wire breaks. I just add this b/c I saw this happen first hand.

Incidentally, I recently gave up on the ec wire and am converting my ec to a clicker -- top clicker for compression and bottom clicker for rebound adjustment. Reason is I just want it to work..... The ec on the dash is cool, but not reliable. After hundreds of cable ties (literally), 7 broken wires, and countless hours monkeying around with it, I'm giving up on the wire connection for good and going to a clicker. I love the shock tho. My Ohins Mono shock will be perfect next season. Just bit of fine tuning this summer and it will rock next winter!!! So just fyi everyone: one option is to get rid of the wire and make the shock a clicker, which will always work.

rear ohlins trouble

so just to be sure, to adjust shock you turn key to the on position press the mode button till the shock symbol appears on the speedo screen then use yuor left side toggle switch to adjust shock higher or lower is this correct? or am i missing something. for some reason the shock symbol will not appear on the speedo screen?????

You are correct fldodge. If the connection is working and everything is in order after you press the "mode" button on the dash, the handwarmer icon becomes a little shock icon. The the right side blue button becomes the toggle switch to adjust your compression adjustment up and down, or higher setting or less. If no shock icon, then for some reason your connection has failed. Could be no contact in the connections, a short, broken wire, faulty solenoid, blown fuse, etc. There are other ways also for it to fail too. But for me it was usually a wire broke or pulled out of the solenoid or bad connections in the connectors. I just got tired of fixing it all the time. If I were you I'd check the wire again, or the connections, and certainly the solenoid. Good luck.

I too have had hassles with the E shock. I found if I followed the routing on the yamaha pictures it has stayed working for a few thousand miles now.

If there is one weak link in the GT it is this E SHOCK. I would have preferred a simple clicker and no hassles.

Check the pins in both connectors. When my wire was ripped out, it broke the lock on the pin in the connector by the reverse lever. It looked good, but when you plugged it in, the pin got pushed back into the connector and wasn't making contact. Get needle nose pliers and see if the pins are locked in the connectors

more of the same

we checked the harness as best we could with the tank off but everything looks right we checked for voltage down at the shock connection and it shows 12 volts on one side but still can not get the shock symbol to appear on the speedo screen? anyone got a scematic or any insite into this i`am starting to run out of things to check . thanks

Look at the faq's in the stickies at the top. I think there's an apex/attak manual in there
