Installed the OFT TBO plate after some monster ice packing last season. Finally got in some miles and a USCC East race last weekend to try it. Definately seemed to reduce the amount of ice in the tunnel. The race course had 2 good sized slush holes mixed with ice and tons of snow dust. Pre-race i did some riding on the lake in fresh powder. The pics below are taken after the race. FWIW the front of the sled had ice patties in the control arms and stuck to the subframe and the runnign boards were full. You can see in the pics that the rear suspension parts are completely covered in ice.
These are good results for the rear and much less snow/ice than I would have expected to see without the TBO.
Install was very easy. Hardest part was getting the muffler on/off the midpipe.

8in powder on the trails today and about 30deg. this is all that stuck to the tunnel after 140mi ride - an acceptable amount under the tail light. No more ice chunks !

Installs from the top side by removing the muffler, installing the tbo then sliding the muffler back in. very easy job.

Out of curiousity has anyone ever tried to slip the OFT plate over the muffler without pulling it?? I mean pull the plastic and seat but will it fit?

Only 3 bolts to remove the muffler at that point and you cannot get the plate in without pulling the muffler.
Here are the instructions, very easy install:

I agree it's an easy install but I know more people have a problem either pulling of the old can and putting it back on witrhout ruining the seal than anything.scmurs said:canoehead said:Out of curiousity has anyone ever tried to slip the OFT plate over the muffler without pulling it?? I just wondered if you could get it down to the actual exhaust clamp and slip it over and put the heat shield back on.
