I know there are many threads contrasting and comparing the two (three) but, well, I'm still having a hard time deciding.
I finally got some seat time on a 2012 pro-rmk. It was very nice, light and nimble. The carving was kind of like a fighter jet compared to my, um truck. I still love my truck though. I spend a gob of money on Timbersled suspension, Skinz a-arms, etc. I finally can ride this thing. One downfall is still the weight but it's not been too unbearable. I would like just a bit more ooomph though (180HP).
I told myself if I really liked the changes (which I do) that I would boost. That said; I mostly boondock and don't do a lot of big hill climbing. It would seem the no brainer is a super but a lot of people (on these forums) say that once under a load (track on snow) that there really is no lag on the Turbo. If there is a lag issue, I would like to go with a Super. Comments?
Then there is fuel burn issue. With the Super, how bad is it? If fuel weren't an issue I would again probably choose a Super.
Reliability. They both seem to be very reliable. I would probably lean towards the Turbo. Less complicated. No belt/cog drive.
What else do I need to consider?
Anyone have seat time on all three that would like to compare/contrast? Snow-check time is soon but I could boost this year....

I have a supercharger and if I were to do it again, I would go turbo.
Fuel mileage and ease of installation. Plus at high pulls you can't bet them.
The new kits have really little to no lag. Just my .02.
Call Allen Ulmer, he'll set you on the right path.
What ever you do, put on boost and A/F gauges.

Since you are only talking about the MPI kits -
- with the MPI turbo you are not adding weight to the front of the sled - all of the weight of the SC is added to the front of the sled (not good IMO)
- the supercharger requires it's own oiling system with oil to change out, whereas turbo is oiled off of the motor
- the supercharger pulls air from under the hood which could be "warm" air, the MPI turbo pulls cold air from the rear of the sled and the charge tube is "cooled" a bit by the snow thrown up by the track.
I mainly boondock too, the great thing about the turbo kit is that the power is there when you hit the throttle and there no lag IMO. I am sure the supercharger hits harder at lower RPMs, but for my riding style (tight trees a lot of the time) - I don't think that would be a good thing for me in some situations.
I have a lot of time on stock Apexes and Nytros in the trees and I can make a stock sled work. The bonus is the boost for times when I need it and can let it rip.
I have a little time on a PRO (not much) they are nice sleds that are very light, but they are still a 2 stroke motor. I left that ship 10 years ago. I don't have any time on the SC kit. When I asked a guy (a Yamaha test rider that does A LOT of testing in my riding area) which was better for me - his response was very quick - turbo. So that is what I ordered last spring.

I have enjoyed my supercharged Apex, and been around a fair number of boosted Nytros.
If I was to do it all over again I would undoubtedly go turbo, it just suits what I wanted to do better...
However, to really answer your question, I say Pro RMK all the way. That chassis is so fun... Give me a pump gas Pro RMK please...

Ill keep it simple, Turbo.

Good stuff so far. I threw the PRo-RMK in there but after the last few rides I really feel like I have the Nytro dialed in. It'll probably come down to Turbo or Super. Plus at this point it's a hell-of-a-lot less expensive.
Are the lag issues with other Turbos? I keep hearing over and over that there really is no lag with the MPI Turbo. Any negative feedback out there?

turbo, I'd do mcx before mpi, have it professionally installed.
I have the stage 1 super charger.I would go turbo without a doubt

I have a trubo on my apex and there is zero lag. If your looking for 180 h.p. you could just do some work to your nytro and get up in the 180's h.p. without going turbo or super charger... if your looking for 240-290 h.p. then a turbo is the way to go.

What mods to the Nytro and at what altitude will they make 180 hp? I unload at 8300' and sometimes ride up to 12,000' (mainly ride at 9500 to 11,000)
If you follow the general rule that a NA motor loses 3% hp per 1000' of elevation gain - I am starting out 24% down and go to 33% hp loss in the course of a day with a NA motor.
I find it hard to believe that some motor work would get me 180 hp at that altitude. Boost is the most cost effective route for guys the ride at altitude like I do, but if there is a cost effective way to bump HP I would like to do those mods to my parents sleds (both stock MTX 162s).

I have a phazer with a standard mcx turbo. It runs at 12psi and is a rear mount. I can attest that there is a significant amount of turbo lag in this setup. Despite that, it doesn't really bother me. It takes time, but you learn new throttle habits that minimize the problem. Of course it is subjective to the individual, but I wouldn't worry about a turbo lag problem. There are countless happy nytro 180 owners out there, and mid or front mount kits are available to reduce the problem as well.
I cannot comment on the super option, but the turbo options are very tried, tested and refined by now that it makes them an obvious choice to me.

Mike g - I hear kudos over and over from the MCX owners. For the $ difference, I am also hearing a lot from satisfied MPI owners.
MachZ69 - wow! I would like to know what I could do to gain 50 hp w/out boost!
Pro116 - You have a Super and to do it over you would go turbo? Why? Fuel? Maintenance?

Fuel.Don't get me wrong it rapid response and fun but lb per lb the turbo makes more power. The turbo's are way better on fuel.Zero issues so far.

If you want to see what "lag" of a turbo is all about. Hit me up, you are more than welcome to take mine for a spin. After half a season on mine now I would never consider anything but a Turbo. Mine being a "180" kit it is more at home in the tree's than on the steep stuff. I absolutely love the tree riding performance.

I ride with a guy on a 180 hp Nytro (MCX) and I have a apex super at 10 PSI
The super is a beast with "power now" that makes it harder to handle than a turbo. I guess it would be easier with less boost.
The slight lag makes the turbo easier to handle, the engine comes in soft ( like the stocker) and than builds smooth after that.
One really can notice the weight up front and all the rotating mass on the super charger. Fuel consumption is like a big bore 2 stroke considerably more than a turbo but with the dump valve it is within reason.
Apples and Oranges comparison , but it is my 2 cents worth.
