Had my primary apart since blowing a belt and cleaned up primary and secondary.

Have now a distinct rattle int the primary that comes and goes a bit in the soundlevel.

Cant find any freeplay of the bushings, the same about the plastic shims besides the bushings aswell for the onces between the weights that also are tight and all, marked up the x and tighten all after spec.

Tore it apart several times but cant find any.

wt freaking F

could it be the belt? the new onces i got is so tight that it spins the track if i lift of the ground even do i dont have any shims in the secondary?

The rattle is about the same.

i also ripped out the foam ,but doesnt seem logic it would get so loud, gonna have a look tomorrow before heading for the mountains.

It could be, but why start now? Going to the sled now to se if it sounds the same without the primary. Its worst at startup.

yamaha is known for the primary to get a rattle. my rx 1 had a rattle for 2500 miles.

well to get this going again!

If i take of the primary the sound stops, if it was the gear reduction it shouldnt stop ?

what should i try? throw alot of dollars on changing all in the primary or what.

it only happens when on idle, as soon as touch the throttle its gone, but sound terrible on idle, and it comes and goes in waves.

It's the gear reduction ....there's a post on here how to stop it ....but it wouldn't hurt anything ...just ride it

If it is the gear reduction shouldnt it make the sound with the primary off as well? And where is the post to get it silent again?

Sounds weird it starts making the sound now after 4000mile

Nope, got it all of to check the primary, nice and tight in bushings and slider.

just wondering what the fix are and why shouldnt it make sound if primary is off then?

Sure i can idle upp and get rid of it, but rather fix if possible.. strange it happens now 8000km later.

Any chance you could borrow a primary from a buddy off of another Apex and install it on yours?? And or install your primary on another sled to see if the rattle disappears. This would definitely isolate your primary and possibly rule it out....... Had an issue with my primary, the stopper P/N 8V0-17639-00-00 was out of place and caused rattle......

Just ordered close to 70 things for the sled and 2 stoppers, sliders and all that for the cross, also all shims but rollers im keeping so gonna try that first + that i need the other stuff begore getting the sled together.
