Plenty of winter left here so no surprise we were one of the last to get it. Only one machine brought up to dealer, it was a LTX SE. Before I even sat on it I was laughing at the guys who were picking apart the fit finish stuff on these machines. The front of the seat came off during the ride, panels didn't fit right so and so on. Like I figured from seeing early builds of sleds in the past it was no surprise. So as I said earlier in the year IT'S A PROTOTYPE IT'S NOT GOING TO FIT TOGETHER LIKE THE FINISHED PRODUCT!!
Ok on to the ride. Good pull on the low end and mid felt good also. At the dealer there is a little play area with some small bumps and corners. It was really fun here and this is where the Cat chassis shines. No surprise as I have demoed a Turbo and 800RR Procross so I knew what to expect.
Now on to the lake. Did a few pulls across the lake (see photo) and saw 88 at one point and it was loose snow. I would say for 135 hp and a longer track (137) it felt pretty good. Did not have the legs of my Apex of course but still had decent power. I wish I had tried a Nytro to compare power but have not ridden one. I will say if you are a Apex guy you might miss a bit of that top end pull but of course there is no comparison in handling or bump capability to this chassis.
Motor ran great. Never got this one to bog, pop or stall.
So there it is folks. I did like it but I think I need to ride a shorty to see if I can pick up some top end as I ride mostly open fast terrain. In my opinion it is a great machine that could be made fantastic with a bit more power.

I haven't heard of any review yet where the Viper has been faster than the Nytros. It must be the restrictive exhaust.
How many miles on that sled? What about running temps? I believe the speedo has that option, no? Curious to know how hot the sled gets without a tunnel exchanger.

Hehe dead horse beating. Didn't look at miles it was well used though, scratched up a bit. Temp gauge didn't move after it was warm. It was a short ride anyway told me all I needed to know.

Think it will be the next Iron Dog winner? Great review. Sounds fast enough to me.

Thanks for posting a review. The lack of top end is a trait of the Nytro as well. Nytro's accelerate quickly like a YZ but top out much sooner than say an Apex. I'd think the sled would have at least the same top end as a Nytro since it is a little bit lighter and more aerodynamic. But, the horseshoe exhaust could be limiting things. Still, I'd think the production sleds would be better performing sleds than the pre-production models so there is a good chance for improvement.

That sled had 750 miles on it.

Your welcome guys my pleasure it was fun to try it out after reading all about it. Didn't look at the miles and once again so there are no misunderstandings I am IN NO WAY saying that my Apex handling wise would ever compare to this sled. It is head and shoulders above mine in everything but power. I really wish I knew how a Nytro ran to give a better comparison.
I am on the fence as far as buying one. If someone can maybe do a can/pipe/fuel (Pc3 or 5) mod combo or a reasonable turbo/supercharger for some more power I may grab one. If not I hope they do something with the Ape because it is hard to walk away from that motor.
