I just got a good deal on a 509 Carbon Fiber helmet and sinister goggles. I've been using modular helmets for the last 10 years. I was wondering what's a good head sock to use with this combination, to keep my cheeks (facial) and neck warm?

If you have cold like we do here, I can't more strongly recommend the Klim Arctic Balaclava. It is nice heavy neo face mask with breath box.
I think they were sold out all over last season.

Thanks, I'll check them out

if you have a large head stay away from the klim arctic balaclava! my hat size is 7 3/8" and I wear a xl helmet and I hated mine, it was the most uncomfortable POS ive ever worn! if you make frequent stops, want to talk to your buddies, stop to drink your favorite beverage you have to take the thing completly off, which in my part of the world means your head gets uncomfortably cold quickly... I tried to get used to it and couldnt after about 2 weeks, waste of money if you ask me. if you want the one I have you can have it if you paid for shipping. if you want the absolute best balaclava I have found (imo) its by a company called chaos-ctr http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ZG ... Why would you ever try to drink through a balaclava? We stop in bars, where you take your stuff anyway.
If it's below zero, it's the best protection. I wear a lighter version when it is above 20 degrees as it is too warm.

No need to get snide... Obviously you can't drink THROUGH a balaclava, and if you looked at the link I posted you don't have to take the balaclava off to do anything with your mouth or nose. . Some people don't have the luxury of having bars at trailsides... Plus I don't drink alcohol while I ride and would rather be riding and have short stops to rehydrate and have a bite to eat, than hanging out at a bar.
I gave him my opinion on a good headsock, and my experience with the klim, no need for an overpriced balaclava with a breath box when you have a nice helmet and goggles.

Oops .... Typo I used to have a 509 now I have a Klim helmet
I also on very cold days ( like below 0 ) I put on the Klim balaclava but most of the time I ware a Klim neck warmer because its not restrictive and not over my mouth which I don't like...
Everyone's different so it may take a few to find the right one for you....what works for one may not work for you so just keep trying them till you find the right one

I like the kilms but wish they offer more wind protection on my chin and neck. Pretty thin and on long pulls when its chilly out my neck starts to get cold. I had a arctica balaclava but it didn't breath at all and made googles fog like crazy.....took me a full day to figure out why it was happening. Another thing I don't like about most balaclavas are they are too short, I like to tuck it in my jacket so I don't get any drafts.
How thick is the klim arctic? How long is it too, needs to be as long as the longest one klims makes......covert I think.
I wear a 509 helmet with aviators too, great combo!

Klim arctic is long and made with a wind stopper like material so it's warm...only problem with mine is I get wind coming up into the breath box on real cold days it is hard on the lips lol (-20 and below Celsius)...all in all I like mine.
Thanks for all the info guys,
I use a skidoo lava with a built in nose piece love it never cold and never fog up. Wouldn't wear anything else
I also wear Oakley snowboard googles worth every penny wouldn't buy another cheap goggle ever

For you guys that have the ones that cover your mouth, doesn't it get all iced up from breathing through it?
Mine doesn't cover the mouth
