09NYTRO was spot on with his info reference a fix for jumping out of gear. Just got a call from a friend in the UP of Michigan. He had his XTX jump out of gear twice. The chain was not loose, nor was he going in or out of reverse too quickly.

His dealer called and said he received an upgrade kit for the chain case and was installing it on his XTX. Do not have any details yet but am assuming it will involve some type of "Detent" (As 09Nytro reported) to place enough pressure on the servo to keep it from moving on it' own.

Will have more details later today after he picks his sled up.

Also trying to find out if All Viper's will have an upgrade done ASAP or on a case by case basis?????

I was told all 7000 & 9000 & vipers get it , not sure when it will be at dealers and when they will start calling sleds back .

Just got called from friend who pick his XTX up. A "detent" was installed and Yamaha is confident this will be a successful fix for both Vipers and Cats. Dealer did not know next step in process as far as all Vipers.

Is there any bulletin/upgrade campaign numbers?? If you had a bulletin number you could bring it to your dealers attention possibly

Just wanted to throw this out there. I am curious why this did not show up during the demo rides?? My friend lives very close to where the demo rides took place in the Western UP of Michigan, and one of the days things were quiet and he was able to keep on riding all the sleds most of the day and never had a problem or heard anything.

My dealer was at a demo ride I think in Ishpeming and he said he rode all day and he never heard anything about it.

I am sure Cannondale will add more info. I "think" that Cat put out a Bulletin. As of early this morning my dealer had not received a Bulletin.

Yes Cat did issue a bulletin. As far as I know Yamaha did not but I didnt check. I think caution should be used here. If a detent is used and it turns out to be just a case of errant electrical issue or programing I have no doubt that the reverse servo has enough power to rip that detent right off. Just try holding that servo with your hands and put it into reverse. It is very powerful and should not ever move from vibration or something like that.

Ask yourself why after the Cat updates to 2012 and 13 chaincases did issues with reverse go to 0 issues and now in 14 there are issues?

In my opinion this detent is not as thought out as it should be. Although I like a quick response like AC has done I hope Yamaha thinks this through and above all tests all possibilities first.

They are using different supplier for the servo motor ! The update won't work on 12-13 models !

I wonder if that is the problem? Honestly after they updated the 12 and 13's there were NO issues so why change suppliers?

There are/were issues on 12-13 procross sleds as far as the reverse and chain case. It seems to be an issue cat can't figure out.
