Alright gentleman should I be using premium or regular fuel? My sled is bone stock. Would the performance be any better if I went to a splitfire style plug? Trying to get more out of it on a tiny budget. Thanks for the help!

Better Plug

Get the NGK CR10EK plugs. You can run regular with no ill effects.

Dynorun.011. We removed the aluminum velocity rings and tried a special sparkplug that I like to use on our real fast Suzuki Hayabusa, GSXR 1000 and Kawasaki ZX12 motorcycles. We install NGK CR10EK spark plugs. The result was just as we see with the bikes. We made more power in lesser time. 6.4 foot pound torque and 4.4 HP improvement at 3700 RPM, 2 foot pound and 2 HP at 5000 RPM, 2.4 foot pound and 2.6 HP improvment at 5800 RPM's and from there on it makes more power but ends up linearlly trailing off all the way to the rev limiter. Definately worth the price of these expensive sparkplugs!

Do those CR10Ek plugs make a difference?? I read the dyno results posted a few weeks ago but just wondering if you can actually feel a difference. Thanks..The reason I ask is I recently priced these and they were over $16.00 canadian each.

If you are on a tight budget, I don't understand why you would want to do either. Don't you think Yamaha knows what kind of plugs, and gas works best?

Compression isn't high enough to warrant higher octane. You may actually loose performance going with Higher octane than needed, it's harder to ignite versus lower octane fuel.

As far as the plugs go, we all need extra's right? Get the EK's and pull your current plugs out and use them for your spares. I'm not sure if you have an Advance Auto in Canada, but they have them for about $5.50 here in the states. You must have some large retail auto parts store you can try. You won't find a cheaper 2 HP increase. When I bought my RX-1 last year the dealer charged me over $6.00 for each of the oem cr9e's :x

Beat me

You're too quick for me. You forgot the link though.

mighty,
Thanks for the info.
was this a dyno run of an RX1? What is a velocity ring, and did it contribute to the increase? It said the horspower increase dropped off after 5,800 rpm. The RX1 runs at 10,000.
