Hey guys,

I just recently had all of my wires in the steering column re-located under the cab to go for a cleaner finish. (Removed the stock black bar pad and added riser) I have now noticed that my hand warmers don’t get very hot anymore…or not as much as they did last year when it had the stock setup.

Does anyone have any clue what the hell is going on? :die

Warden, I noticed the same thing when I went ice fishing yesterday. It was basically the first cold day of the year and I had my warmers on full blast. Yes, they don't get that hot after we did our handlebar mods.

My guess is that the removal of the handlebar pad is the cause for sure. The bars are exposed to the elements which sucks heat away from the grips. I much prefer the handlebar pad gone than warm grips any day of the week.

I did a search and forget about it....it takes forever especially on my home computer. I also didn't find anything.

So, I have come up with a fix of my own (maybe someone out there has done it already). I am thinking about some kind of nice looking insulated tape or foam to wrap around the bars itself. I am sure the grips will work a little better.

Capt Toyota...if this subject has been beat to death, then you must have a fix embedded in your head. Why couldn't you just given a quick one sentence fix along with a recommendation to do a search. Sorry for wasting your time by clicking on this thread.

I removed/spliced all fittings, cut windshield down to virtually nothing and replaced handlebars and added riser(foam and cover gone) and they still work perfect - in fact too hot. Must be other issue.

No offense and not trying to be a jerk, but when you have thread after thread after thread...
Im sure that not everyone is as savy as others about how to use the search function, thats why I mentioned it. Not calling Warden lazy, not saying Im too busy or lazy to help, just point out the search function.
The removal of the bar pad and the taller bars are the culprit.
Not much of a cure other than maybe a taller windshield, thicker gloves or handguards. You could try the stick-on handwarmers as well.
