They were the C&A Pro XT's with 9" shaper bars what a ride!!! Last weekend I tried the Outlaws and Razors and the Outlaw was my fav. by far. The XT has a longer wear bar and larger side keels then the Outlaw. It requires a little more steering effort but not as much as the Razor did, also unlike the Razor the XT was 99% dart free. The conditions were rock hard base with 1"-2" fresh powdery snow, which to be far is totally different then the conditions for the test on the other two skis. The XT's again changed the sled it hardly ever lifted the inside ski all weekend, when I came off the gas late into the corner the nose would drop and the skis would bite and crank amazing turns. They also tracked really nice in the bumps never grabing to much edge and in corners were the loose snow had built up it had great bite and always held its line unlike what I noticed the Pilot ski equipd. sled in front of me. You can power out of a corner and know there up to the task of going right were you want without powersliding/pushing. The sled was a blast to ride in twisty wooded trails because of the great bite and quick precise change of direction from left to right.

How did you get to try them 4 stroker?

While I found the Razor to be better than stock it seemed to have the same traits as the stock ski. You would be amazed how different the feeling of control is with the Outlaw and XT, you would think its a different sled.

I have been given a chance to try several brands and models and in return I supply info and comments on each ski

Do you like the outlaws or the XTs better, for both anti darting and controll?
How did you get to try them all out?

I would have to say my new fav. is the XT its a step up in overall performance but I do plan on trying the outlaws back to back with the XT's for a fair test. I know some one in the industry and he asked me to give my 2 cents on different skis on the Apex. He told me before I bought the sled this fall that it was a great overall sled, but from his rides last season on the sled he found the skis hindered the overall performance capabilites. Control is night and day difference to stock and on the trail this weekend darting was not an issue with the XT. Read my post from last Sunday for more info I think its a couple of pages back.

Finally put miles on my Apex GT this weekend. Love it all except some darting and ski-lift. I was thinking of investing $ on new ski's. Someone told me not to buy anything other than Simmons Flex ski w/ daul carbides. Does the C&A XT have dual carbides?? and do you know how it compares to the Simmons??

The C&A skis have a single wear bar while the Simmons Flexi ski has two wear bars. It was pretty much an even split on the RX platform of people using C&A's or Simmons. While I loved the Simmons ski on the RX platform, I don't believe it should be the ski of choice on the Apex/Attak platform and C&A's or Sly Dogs would be better.
Even with a single wear bar ski, you can install dual carbides like Woody's doolys or Shaper's.

not sure if anyone's tried them for the Apex but we've dyno proven the USI 'ss railers' to pick up 2-3mph on the STALKER gun. If you like aggressive trail riding and lake running , I doubt if anything will compare.

I"ll be trying some USI's after the last two C&A's, but my understanding is that USI skis are not as aggersive as the C&A.

The Outlaw, XT and Razor I believe are new this year and ride is different between all.

Yeah, they are new/revised designs by C&A. I guess I didn't make my point clear. The Simmons, with their ski design, widened the stance of the RX platform by 1.5 inches, which was needed to help stabilise the sled. With the revised geometry on the Attak/Apex line I don't believe you need the extra 1.5 inches so a single wear bar ski should work just fine.

- Which one? I have 6
Well last weekend got to ride my sons GT all weekend and this is what I found out trying two other sets of skis. Both sets tested with new 6" runners.
USI 301 shaper skis. Very aggressive on the trail. Stuck like glue. Even with icy conditions. Little darting with a 1/4 inch shim on the back of the rubber mount. Increased stearing effort over stock but if you like aggressive trail riding they are good.
C&A Pro. More aggressive than stock but not as aggressive as the Shaper skis. Better floatation and less stearing effort than the USI's. and about the same stearing effort as the stock skis. No darting at all with out any shims on the mounts.
Both sets used same day same trails. Combination hard packed and icy conditions. I would like to try a set of XT's and compare them to the USI's. Or if any one else can do a similar test your comments will be welcome.
