I recently purchased a 2006 APex GT, still stock.
I am planning on studding the track very soon.
Who is using what ?
And with what kind of results?
We've used studboys and woodys on some of our previous Yamaha's
(SRX-700, SXViper, Vector)

1.325 Woody's megabytes or GoldDiggers, but I think the megabytes can take more abuse.

Interesting you say Round. Earlier this year I spoke with a rep from Woody's and he said to use the Square backers because they offer better support for the thinner Ripsaw track.fourload said:big round aluminum plate

Round ones are 1.25 in diameter and are very easy to install.I ran them in my 05rx1,my wifes vectorgt and my apexgt in all conditions and never bent one or pulled a stud out of the ripsaw. The square ones always bent easier when I used them years ag
nce they bend they are junk and can't support the stud anymore.

I have run square aluminum on 3 different mach Z's, RX-1, Warrior and Attak and have never bent one. Make sure you install them parallel with the lugs. The only bent ones I have ever seen have been on sleds where the installer rotated the backer with the points facing the lugs.

To answer the question on studs; Stick with one of the major North American manufacturers and you'll be OK. I've read about imported ones desinagrating quickly. I usually run Woody's but just got a killer deal on Warthogs and will give them a try in my RTX. I ran Warthogs in a MachZ and they were indistructable. They had a black coating and rusted horribly and looked like crap but stayed intact. They don't use that coating anymore and appear to anodize them like Woody's does. Not as corrosion resistant as SS but much more durable.

Roetin Hornets are the Best for pure traction. I use stud boy backers for the most park but used Woodies angled backer this year and they worked well
