who owns a vector and a rev. I am trying to get a honest option of both sleds. I like my vector but with all the problems I been having with skid and ride and front bushings , I am thinking of switching to a rev. I don't want to get the Yamaha groupie's fired up Just looking for people that have a honest option on each, I am a little worried about the motor on a rev. two bad we could not put the Yamaha motor in the rev chassis.

I own a vector a rage a 500ss and a 550 fan rev. The rev's are really fun to ride because they ride great and are light. I really like the ride of the rage, it takes the bumps really well but steers a little difficult. My wife rides the vector, i switched with her one day and could not believe how bad it took the bumps. I made some changes on the suspension but could not get it to ride even close to a rev. It's a tough decision because the vector is a good sled but if you are looking for something that has GREAT suspension go for the rev.

I have a vector and my brother has the Rev. As for the motor I would not change with him. For the suspension his is far better. For problems - we both have to change our sliders this year with about 2000 miles on them. Fuel mileage were about the same. As for bushings etc I don't know as we both pull them apart in the late spring or early summer. As for motor durability I would say the vector is superior from others I have talked to with engine problems with the SDI. I think it is a toss up and you have to go with your gut feeling as otherwise you will never be happy.

I sold my 05 Rev to get a 06 Vector GT, Best move I ever made. Ski-Doo makes a fine sled but if you have any kind of knee problems you will get to feel the pain all over again (at least for me). I hated the REV the first 150 miles and then I just got the feel for the machine and could ride it stupid fast!
Great ride, I would still own it if it wasn't for the knees.
The Vector is the best overall "Play" machine I have ever owned and would only trade it for another one!!!!!!!!

Canadian Lad, does your brother have the sdi ... meaning, are you getting the same gas mileage as the sdi?

Reaper owns a Rev and an Apex GT. Ask him? Rode with him one day and I believe he will give you honest feedback. The other one to ask is RXWonder.

I have an 05 Vector and 05 Rev 600 SDI. To me they are totally different sleds. If I am going touring I take the Vector and ear plugs and I am mentally prepared to stop during the trip and change sliders. All my trips are on very smooth fast trails and usually over 1,000 miles.
If I am going to be riding rough trails(Old Forge,Tug Hill ) or short touring I take the Rev.
The Rev is more fun to ride and it handles and rides much better than the Vector.
I find the Vector is more comfortable when riding smooth trails for several days.
The Vector gets slightly better fuel mileage(1-2) but the overall cost of operation is about the same once you add in the oil changes.
Do not worry about the engines. I know several people with over 6,000 miles on the SDI with no problems. The EFI is sweet.
I was planning on trading both sleds this year and the trade in value of the 4 stroke was no better than the 2 stroke. So much for that sales pitch.
These two sleds are like comparing apples to watermelons.
That is my opinion, I am sure someone on here that can only see thru blue sunglasses will tell you I am wrong.
Buy or keep what fits your type riding.
I was dumb enough to buy both.

i had a rev last year, biggest pos ever made, 2 1/2 miles out the left front suspension failed and caused to flip the sled and crash, it broke the windsheild, mirror, mirror mount, it bent the nun, a-arms and shock. it also messed up the motor that it made a bad metal to metal sound, and i love my 06 vector not one issue

Now this was a perfectly justafiable review. You stated your opinions about each sled but then for some reason had to go and try and stir things up with your (now unoriginal) "blue sunglasses" foolishness. Someone may not agree with your review. But you're not "wrong" simply because they ARE your opinions. After all, that's what the guy asked for.

What's that got to do with getting the point of Tfin's post?
Besides, it's just your opinion that I target.

KIDDING! Lighten up.
All kidding aside, I value the opinions I read on here, as it has really helped me alot over the past couple years. I ask a lot of questions and get good answers.

I was simply wondering why after you posted your personl opinion on each sled (which was what the guy asked for in the first place....nothing else), you felt the need to stuff a "blue sunglassess, underwear, blood, etc, etc" jab in there.
Hey, I like joking around and ribbing as much as the next guy....but I didn't get the impression that wasn't your intension.
