Good write up!
And the deer thing was just funny, how often do you have to worry about deer on a trail, lol. Maybe they should put up some deer signs like they do in the highways, on the trails.
For the darting issue, all they did was add the shims and utilize the stock carbide, or did they also go with the Bergstrom triple carbide?

I think if he had put the triples on he would have mentioned it. I think all he did was put the shims in.

I hit a deer in December with my SRX. Flying down some tight trails about 50 mph and the deer jumped from the side of the trail directly onto my hood. The deer never touched me but did some damage to my sled. It's all fixed now and you could never tell (although the next owner might find some deer hair in the engine compartment).
I got lucky, I could still be eating from a tube!!
I plan on shooting a few more next year.

Man thats the second year in a row they've hit a deer, totaled that Crossfire last year remember that? Ive also had a close call with a deer ran rite beside me.
while riding thru a national park on the gaspe this season there was a moose on the trail that wouldnt get off.so my buddy got right up behind it and was trying to force it off the trail.well the moose stopped did a 180 and charged him.he fell off his sled and the moose took off in to the woods.funniest thing i ever saw.

I think that was the one of the guys from snotech that crashed the crossfire.
Yes, it was definitely a SnowTech story with the Crossfire.
I see at least 20 deer on EVERY ride...ESPECIALLY if I'm on groomed trails and leading. The risk of a group leader hitting one is very high, and many people don't seem to realize that. Maybe different in some parts of the continent, but I know for a fact in the UP you gotta be alert. Cross my fingers....haven't actually hit one yet but have had MANY, MANY close calls. Those deer I always see are one of the biggest reasons I started wearing a Tek Vest several years ago.
