Both, the BOSS and Mountain MOD seats have a rear compartment. I have heard that the Mountain Mod seat compartment is big enough to stuff a smaller backpack inside.

Then for sure count me in. I was going to purchase a new Nitro seat from the dealer and now for less money and a 10 lb weight savings it seems like a good deal.

FYI it looks like it will also fit the RX-1/RS Chassis if you know guys that want to update their older sleds.
Just go to www.mountainmod.com/yamaha_seats.html and you'll see a close up of the seat not installed on a sled. It's just below the new front mount turbo seat picture on the right side of the screen. FYI at regular price $679 CAD= $612.13 USD. A BOSS seat is $518 +S&H. This is if you bought individually. If you in the US; PM freak and see what he can get you a BOSS seat for vs. the cost to get a seat shipped from Canada. I don't know if we get screwed on stuff crossing the border like our Canadian brthers do. If so BOSS seat migh be the better deal for the US guys.

i got a price of $600 shipped to the us for one a couple weeks ago. i was hoping if we could get enough people together we could get a better price. i really have no interest in a boss seat, even if it is cheaper. the quality isnt as good, service is iffy and i like the direct fit of the mountain mod. (no drilling holes, no snaps!) ill give murray a call after i get an idea how many might be interested.
Yes the MM seat has rear storage. But the seat you guys are looking at replaces the stock. The comment about the size of a back pack is for the seats that look like a 2stroke seat. I have the 2stroke look with a front mount turbo, or those that dump the exhaust into the tunnel. Not sure if the seat in the pic on the apex is bigger than stock. But the seat is 100% better than boss. The material doesn't look like plastic, Murray is great to deal with, no bs time frames.

All I'm saying is go for whichever you feel is the best deal. FYI I love both of my BOSS seats. The service that Dave aka Freak gives the people who go through him is alot better than directly from BOSS.

For $600 shipped I am in if it has the rear compartment. If we get enough interest I would love a little better price.

I have placed an order with Murray for a new seat. Yes, there is storage in the Mountain Mod seat and the stock tailight apparently mounts to it. I'm not sure how Boss seats does the tailight thing, but my understanding is that you have to buy a separate taillight to fit the Boss seat. Anyone confirm?

I'm not sure about the new APEX design but, the RX-1/RS Vector seats use the stock tailights. The seat has a flap that is custom fit to the tailight assembly. There are holes cut to fit around the two round protrusions of the lense. Once it is slid over the lense you snap it to the black plastic trim piece between the exhaust outlets. If you click on the RMK pic I posted above and click on the orange x in the lower right corner it will expand the pic. You can just make out the flap going around my tailight lense by doing this.
Edit; n2oiroc, I'm sorry I sidetracked your thread (didn't intend to). Rahter than do it any more; if anybody has questions about the BOSS seat send me a PM. If I didn't own a BOSS allready I would hold out to see how many are interested and what the price will be if n2oiroc can get enough of you together to persuade Murray to cut the price by about $100; you should go for it.
I'm sure Murray's seats are more than BOSS seats, due to the light weight bottom that is molded to factory specs. My BOSS is held on by Velcro in all reality. The snaps that everybody thinks hold the seat down are actually there to keep the seat from getting rinkles after years of use. IMHO you can't go wrong with either one; assuming, you get as great of service as I fortunately had.
