For the RS series, ECP has not been able to make any gains over the stock airbox by using filters, so that does not appear to be worth pursuing.

I am a believer inthis product, both pilot and main.....
http://www.flo-commander.com/
Click on the sled kits
Have your carbs and airbox put on a flow bench and you will see some issues with equal airflow to all three carbs. (The righ-most carb is getting less air in stock form due to poor placement of the stock breather tube)
This product has taken care of that probem along with screen warping in the stock box. The flow bench was the key.

Dial-A-jet makes a similar product as well.

The only problem with that product is that you have to adjust all 3 carbs seperatley as opposed to adjusting all 3 carbs with a turn of 1 screw...

Good point, Whats the possibility of melting down your 4-stroke with one of these kits? I have always been afraid to play with jetting for this reason.

Thats a question everyone has, unlike a 2 stroke to gain more power out of a 4 stroke you richen it up (ie pour more gas at it) instead of leaning them out. There is also a warning with the directions that say not to turn the dials out more than 3.5 turns but when I talked to Steve at flo commander he assured me that you can crank them all the way out with no problems, myself I've stayed within the 3.5 mark. So far so good with 3000+ miles and alot of tuning.

I buy this RVF... always noticed during carb sync that #3 carb's slide delays opening by a notch. Did not know why & always wanted to exchange springs as a tester.... or get a set of Holztman as a trial.
But now that your reference of the breather tube in the path of the air flow does make common sense.
What really is the function of that tube ?
How much oil leaks out of it, if any ?
Do you believe i can just cut it short, say, before the first bend ?

The tube is the crankcase breather tube and yes it does pass oil. As far as cutting it short I am not sure if this will help or not. Steve spent considerable time coming up with a new breather tube configuration on his flow bench. I can try and attach a picture of mine with the new tube installed, also the screen in the airbox would warp out of shape so he added snap clamps to the screen to prevent it from warping.
