Guys I'm thinking about putting a 1.5 intense on my attak. Will this work ok? I want it to excel in powder. I'm not big on top speed, so that doesnt concern me. I dont think I have to mod anything. Just curious.

Both crazy1cars and I put the 1.5 Intense tracks on our Attaks... can't give any feedback until it snows.

he notched his track to clear the tunnel protectors.. I removed mine (I will never stud it).

track will work great.i installed a 1.5" ripsaw in my attak last year.this year i'm doing same track in a rage.i like the hookup of the ripsaw better on trail.the intense will perform better offtrail for you.

not sure what you mean ? the ripsaw is made in a 1.5 " also.

will I loose alot of trailability with the 1.5 over the ripsaw?
the intense sure wont be as good on hardpack as the stock ripsaw if thats what your asking. paddle tracks like the intense work great in the powder at the expense of hard pack traction. all the little fingers on the ripsaw make it great on hardpack and loose snow that isnt real deep, but it doesnt do very good in the powder. like rich said though, a 1.5" ripsaw is a good comprimise. either way, these sleds trench like a mother and a track wont totally fix it.

I was hoping that with some skis and a better track it would do good in deeper snow. Maybe I'm trying to make it something it isnt. :o|

I'm thinking the same way as you are dlange. That's why I installed the 1.5 inch intense and Slydog Powderhound skis on my Attak. I'm sure it won't be nearly as good as a true mountain sled, and probably not even as good as the other brands lighter weight crossovers...the Attak is a heavy tank no matter how you dress it or market it. But I'm believing and hoping it will be SIGNIFICANTLY improved over the stock setup in the deep stuff. I measured and calculated a 45% increase in surface area with the Slydog skis compared to stock (along with a very insignificant weight decrease...almost a pound). That should keep the nose up some, which I believe effectively changes the attack angle of the track a little bit also. And everyone knows the Ripsaw is trash in the deep, so a true paddle along with the slightly longer lugs has got to help move more snow. And I believe it will still have good trail manners at the same time and more than enough hookup, speed, and accelleration to keep me very satisfied.

I want a 4 stroke crossover. Unfortunately Yamaha didn't make it (nor did anyone else). So I'm taking the next best thing and converting it a bit to see if it can be done. I'll report honestly if I am right or wrong, but only after I get a chance to run it hard and long and have it fully dialed in...until then everyone (myself included) is just speculating and guessing. You won't hear any answers from me on whether this worked until probably late January....one ride won't answer my question. I'm waiting for true extensive saddle time before I report.

the front is easy to keep up. powderhounds or any other 7" wide ski work great. if you could setback the stock 136" skid with a 144" track to reduce approach angle then i think it would be a big improvement.

If the 1.5" Intense is not notched (or if the tunnel protectors are not removed),
will there be an interference problem between the track and the tunnel protectors...?

n2o I think LB - 'lazy bastard' - did something similar to the original delta chasis and really thought it was an improvement in the deep snow.

I think that sounds very interesting

I did a search on lug height, but the search result is very confusing.
Some people claim that 1.5" lugs will fit without any problems.
Others claim that 1.5" lugs will interfere with the (front) tunnel protectors...
What is the truth regarding the Camoplast 9800C (1.5" Intense)...?

Everyone on line also told me it would fit with no mods. But after I installed my 9800C in my 07 Attak with tunnel and heat exchanger protectors left in place, lugs rubbed the protectors enough that I could not rotate the track by hand without pulling real hard. Therefore I spent about 30 minutes with a utility knife, cutting 1/4 inch notches out of the lugs that were in line with the protectors. Problem solved.

Then the obvious conclusion is that the 9800C (1.5" Intense) does not fit the Apex/Attak,
unless the lugs are notched or the protectors are removed.
Thank you, craze1cars.
That was exactly the information I was looking for.

Well, the powder hounds area on their way. Now I wonder if I should go with the 1.5 or not. What does everyone think of the 1.5 ripsaw? Maybe that would be a good compromise for me. I do trailride alot, but want to get into more off trail.
