front a arms twisted.

out riding yesterday and hit a pretty good bump. not enough to throw me but a good bump on the left side.
now spindle is almost staight up and down. the ski is about 3 inches back. anyone else have this problem in the past. i have a set of red arms and will get them on asap. just wondering about any one elses experiance?
 
I've seen some other posts with similar problems. Is it just the A-Arm or is the bulkhead bent too?
 
I hit a rock a few weeks ago ditch banging. All that I did was put a good sized dent into the lower A-Arm tubing. My camber and ski alignment seem to be okay though. I put 300+ miles on her afterwards and seemed to ride fine.

I've used a come along to pull them back out when not out too far!
 
Last year, I came over a hill and hit the face of a bump at about 75 MPH. My left spindle bent back and the A-Arms twisted. It cost me over $700.00. :o|

i had the original a arms. got them powder coated black today. got all the new bolts and nylon nuts and bushings $100. total to fix about $200. all and all im happy.
 
Always thought I was the only one. I'm on my third front end on my 06 Attak. Did some real serious rough trail stuff straight out of the showroom. Set-up had way to much bias to the front (a few nose landings), by the end of the day my sled was as you describe. Tried Pioneer Performance Chrom-moly front end kit, and the arms bent and twisted more and more each time out. I'm back to stock. I'll be ordering up a set of '07s next time because yamaha reenforced them with extra gussetting (unfortunately about $1000 too late for me) :o| .
 
I was just searching for the same thing!! I spanked a big rock while I was at Turtle lake Saskatchewan for new years. My spindle looks like it took the most damage and my A-arms don't look bent, I have ordered new outer bolts and a new spindle and I am crossing my fingers that I will cure my woes with that. the only things I am worried about on my A-arms is my shock seems to sit slightly further back in it's hole and the spring is almost touching the back edge of the upper control arm. What I would like to know is it more common to just ditch the old arms if you are unsure or will I get lucky and the spindle will straighten me out the worst bend is in the spindle it is bent back to nearly vertical. I don't want to pull those arms off if I don't have to.

damage

in my case the shock seemed to move back as well. it was the a arms that were twisted and caused this. i had to replace bothe the upper and lower bolts on the spidle. the spindle wasnt bent . the a arms had just twisted.

not to hard to replace the a arms. remove the headlight. air box, take out battery and tray. remove the front nose cone. and you will have access to the a arm bolts.

Wow i would of thought that pioneers stuff would of been stronger,but my dealer warned me that this could still happen to there stuff too,now was it his extra wide kit 45" set up,cause that is what i am interested in,but not if they are week,yes i took out my left side on my 03 rx1 with a thump off a bump/rock that left me still on the sled to,and on inspection it was much worse than exspected,at least by the feel.

The spindle shouldn't bend, though it may break. Either the outside bolts have now got an S shape to them, or the A-rms have twisted. Likely both. Changing out the a-arms is a snap. They're just very pricey from the dealer. Got mine from South Seattle Sports Plaza. Even with delivery, exchange and handling charges I still saved $200.

I got the wide front end kit 45". Pioneer stuff is strong for it's weight...but it weighs nothing. Found the arms bending and twisting more and more each ride (both sides), until I finally had to replace them for lack of shock clearance.

This is interesting and new to me. Is this yet another part that Yamaha has upgraded between 06 and 07? Or is this a rumor?

Check out the upper a-arms on a 2007 Apex and you will see 4 gussets not present on my 06 attack.
 
Have 1500 miles on my pioneer front end kit with no problems.

Stay on the groomed trails and you'll be allright. :drink: Every second I'm on a trail, I'm lookin for a place to get off and bash some drifts or catch some air. :Rockon: That's when the limitations of the product become obvious. :o| My buds say I should be a sled and bike quality control test pilot, because if I can't break it...they'll buy it. I'll try Polaris next season. That RMK dragon looks to be a contender. I hear they're bulletproof. Or maybe that Phazer mtn lite.
