I want to first say that those triple edge carbides worked awesome, no darting and good turning. Very pleased and thanks to the guys on here that recommended them. Here's what I did notice, though. He also sent me the ski savers, those plastic strips between the carbides and skiis. I noticed when racing my brother's RTX ( stock carbides) he would beat me every time by a huge margin. My sled felt like it had more drag. I decided to pull of the ski savers and run just the carbides. Presto, I was dead even with him all the way to top end every time! On hardpack they slow you down. Anyone else notice this? I noticed no difference in handling without them so I chucked them.

hmm thats interesting I was on hardpack this weekend after installing them and noticed a big MPH loss. I was thinking my clutch kit but thats something to consider. I can now see how they would do it.

I thought my loss of speed was due to the 144 woody's down the center. Easy mod to try run's back to back with. I know after looking at mine with miles on they had lots of wear at the very front of the ski saver. Interesting

Yes!! I got the whole kit with shims, carbides and ski savers. The speed difference was dramatic with them on.

I have the ski savers and the shims in. But I was in snow and I guess I c ould see where the drag could come from.
EJ is going to take a look at my secondary so see that Im getting full shift out, then if still slow I will try it back to back. Will only take a few seconds to swap them out.

After removing them, If we launched side by side we would stay that way the whole length of the lake.

I'm not that happy with them on my Simmons. Seams the darting is more dependent on conditions. Fresh pack hard snow and they will grab if I cross a Simmons track. Latter i the day when the snow is churned up they track straight, but they did before the new carbides.
The Shim is also pushing out the back of my rubber boot.
I put the sled in the garage and will go through it this week to make sure the front alignment and skies are set correct.
I'll give it another go them.

Mikeb make sure your skis are set at zero toe. Mine darted a little when I first put them on but that was because my skis were toes out a bit. If you still dont think you like your simmons, put your stockers back on @ U will realize how much better those simmons are.
Thats interesting, Im running the ski savers, shims and triple point carbides too. I haven't gotten alot of miles on this year, but did have mine on the radar last weekend....120 mph with the ski savers on. This was on plowed ice.

I gotta recheck all the steering...
Hit damn washout and knocked front end out of alignment. Looks like I might have bent the steering tie-rod a little
Got some work to do.

I put the whole kit on also.
The carbides are great but not the savers.
For some reason with the lack of snow the steering was harder with the shims.

POB88 my steering was abit harder as well when I shimmed my Simmons. I just dialed a bit more rear-ward transfer in until it got comfortable to steer. I still think I have to much pressure on the front end so Im sure I could lighten it up even more by adjusting my transfer.

Yep, I only did the Triple Points and the shims and ditched the ski savers. Same results as you, no darting and no mph loss.69redmach1 said:I want to first say that those triple edge carbides worked awesome, no darting and good turning. Not to change the topic.. But I noticed something similar with doolys and duece bars.. The doolys rob HP for sure... When I change them to the duece bars I gained 1 mpg.. And I put the doolys on my wifes V-max 700 and it lost 1 mpg.. And MPH.. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. MM.
