Is it hard to change over from the Action to the Mountain on an 04 RX-1 and is it worth the while to do it?
suspension
The pro mountain will riode a lot better. All you have to do is get the meausrements from a 05 or newer vector mtn or pro mtn rx1 and measure it out and drill your 4 holes for the skid. You will probaly need to move your drop brackets.

Its worth it. The Promountain is a very good stock suspension. Seems to work very well on the apex.

I'm very pleased with my promountain apex skid frame on my '03 RX-1. Not hard - just work :exc:
Now the sled finally transfers. You also loose some weight with the mod - both on skid and dropbrackets. It's more weight to loose if you go the with a AC m7 skid frame.

Right on! Has anyone done this and possibly got a templates for the front holes and a template to make new lighter aluminum ones for the back.

I have template for apex mountain skid frame. I used Timbersled dropbrackets
Different tunnels as mine is a 04 rx mountain. I think I can use the same drop brackets as what is on mine or just order new ones from an 05 mountain.

Heres is a link to my templates (apex mountain skid frame)- hope it's helpfull. It worked perfect for me.
Double check my conversion from mm to inches if you use it. We use metric system.

If I was you I would use or make dropbrackets thats makes it possible to upgrade to a 16" track from the start. The bolts in the chaincase could be done later if you deside to upgrade to a 16" track.
If your skidframe is to narrow just make some spacers and longer bolts to make it fit.

How does one measure this up correctly to change from one skid to the next. What are the critical measurings points?

You need the following critical measuring points to change a skid frame (look at template in the link above). If you have this points you could change any skid frame.
X1=distance from center of drivshaft to center of frontholes
X2=distance from frontholes to holes in dropbrackets
Y1=distance from top of the tunnel (inside) to center of front holes
Y2=distance from top of the tunnel (inside) to center of holes in dropbrackets.

Thank you very much TT that is what I have been after. I have the template printed for reference also.

Send a pm to "sledskiing"/Chris at Powersports Xchange he has a vector mountain for sale.
He is a VERY helpfull guy - I bet he could give you measurments for the 151" 05/06 skidframe. He had some dropbrackets for this sled for sale before christmas - he might still have them in his garage.
