Just got back from the Shoot-out in Woodgate, part of the Old Forge Snodeo weekend. Good results for the Yamaha's. .This year there were two classes, same as last year. A 600 class, and a unlimited class. The way the shoot-out works is: Each sled takes two runs on a 1/4 mile track in stock form. then the dealers have about 1 hr to do dealer prep (like clutching, and jetting). Then the sleds come back out and take two runs in with the dealer preped sleds. The track was in the best condition it has ever been. Hard packed snow, temperatures in the mid 20's. Real conditions that you would see in the real world. This year they only gave the 1/4 mile results, you have to pay on snow weeks web site to get the 1/8 mile, and 1000 ft results. Just a note** The announcer did not always give the result to the nearest hundreth. I will post the fastest ET and MPH for the best stock run, and best dealer prep run for each sled. The fastest ET will be posted with the corresponding MPH. The actual MPH might had been slightly faster in the other run, but as we know fastest ET gets you there first. S=stock run, D=dealer prep run.
600 class:
NYTRO was run in the 600 class:
Nytro, S=12.538 ET, 95.4 MPH: D=12.9 ET, 94 MPH.
Ski-doo XP 600 S=13.56 ET, 83.6 MPH; D=13.0 ET, 87 MPH.
Polaris 600 Dragon S=12.54 ET, 94.93 MPH, D=12.8 ET, 94 MPH.
Cat 600= S= 13.58 ET, 91.64 MPH, D=13.2ET 92 MPH.
Unlimited Class:
Yamaha APEX: S= 12.02 ET, 102.97 MPH: D= 12.2 ET, 102 MPH.
Ski-doo 800: S= 12.516 ET, 92.21 MPH: D= 12.1 ET, 101 MPH.
Polaris 700 Dragon S= 12.179ET, 98.25 mph, D= 12.5 ET, 95 MPH.
Cat 1,000 S=12.27 ET, 100.89 MPH: D= 12.1 ET, 99 MPH.
As you can see both the Nytro, and the Apex did very good, especially in stock form. I guess what that tells us, is not to let your dealer do any extra work on your sled.

For the Nitro guys, numbers say "look out for the good running 600 Dragon". At least for that day.

Looks like in stock form the Apex and the Nitro were the fastest and quickest sleds there. In stock form too......
How can that be! Apex beating F1000??
Are those NEW sleds? I'm thinking about engine brake it...

Just don't let Big Moose Yamaha work on your stock sled.
Unless it's too fast for you and you want them to make it slower!
A good dealer makes your stock sled go faster!

LOL!! I noticed the same thing.......but no surprise. At least for once, someone else went slower too after dealer prep......notice the Polaris numbers. Now that one is strange.
PS: the Apex taking all is no surprise to me. I have seen some pretty fast ones on the hard packed lakes, usually the ATTAKs.

Was the Doo 800 an XP 800R ? If so, a LOT of people will be very unhappy. Not me of course.

I believe it was an XP.... According to dynotechJIM, he dynoed one for it.
wow, xp has lots of hype, looks as though it runs like a typical doo. I shouldn't say that, now my nytro will be a pooch.

One thing I noticed that snoweek commented on was the XP's clutch clickers were set on 6, which on a DOO is like going backwards... When they set the clicker to 3 is when it took off. Also, after reading the arcticle, I'm not sure they even clutched it, unless I miissed that part on dealer prep.
