This is my first post, though I've been surfing this great site for over a year now.
When I changed my filter for the first time myself (dealer did first change), I took out a filter 5DM-13440-00 and installed a 5GH-13440-00.
I think that the 5DM that they installed is a shorter filter that is used on the Grizzly as stock, though both can be used on that machine.
Any thoughts on any porblems that could have occured? I did have some over heating problems on our trip to Quebec (after the service was done) - though I usually related that back to the heat exchanger icing over.

Just to correct myself - it looks like the 5DM is for the 660 Raptor, not the 660 Grizzly that the dealer had mistakening put in....

Yes, the filter that the dealer installed on the first oil change was for the 660 Raptor according to the Yamaha web site, not proper one for the RX-1. I did the second oil change with the correct filter.

You didn't hurt a thing using the Raptor oil filter. I believe the length difference is a result of the Raptor filter location being close to the brake pedal and is shorter to limit interference with the rider's foot. Otherwise, the filters are interchangeable.

I use the SuperTech ST6607 filter from Wal-Mart for $1.97 on my Raptor.
Of course I change it after every weekend ride because it's cheap and easy. I don't intend to change my sled that often.
