Well, we were out shooting pics in some decent powder yesterday and making laps on a hillside to a fun little cornice. My partner was on my Nytro and got bucked in a deep rut that was forming and rolled it. The handlbar stuckin the snow upside down, revved it and boing! Looks like we broke a ring... :o| I can hear it now...should have had a kill switch. Learnng the hard way. Anyway want to confirm...oil out the tailpipe, blue smoke, oil dripping out the belly, no knocking, just think we blew a ring. Confirmations? Additionally since were taing it apart and i want to boost it; what improved pistons/rings/rods necesary for stronger engine when boosted? Whew...sorry for the book. Also service manual resources? Thanks you all, looks like my advetures are in the garage for a while! I'm actually excited to take it to the next level!!! :rocks:

Have you check the air box. If the sled was upside down...for sure oil got in there!

Not yet, good thought, maybe sucking oil in through the air filter/box...blue smoke. Still runs strong and like normal. I'll get into it this afternoon...hope thats all it is!!!

I think your going to be pleasantly surprised to find it is just oil in the breather. Clean out the air box and take her for a good run and no more blue smokie.

Just got into it and started it without the air cover off and NO BLUE smoke! Thanks guys!! This time I am stoked to be april fooled! Just gonna clean it up good and get a filter on that breather, because out here in the deep, we are often rolling sled over to get unstuck real quick...Still gonna boost it for next year! Whew!

Quick Pic from yesterday

Hope you like!

Eric, here's a couple of vent boxes that you can use with or without a turbo to keep oil from getting into the airbox when you roll 'er over. The Lightning Pro looks more advanced, but Ted is a turbo guru, so I'm sure his works just fine. I will probably get the more expensive one, 'cause I am of the opinion that higher-end stuff is always better, and 'cause that's just how I roll.

BTW- I enjoyed the pictures you had in the newspaper, and Brian was super stoked.

I heard Cooke City was sick! I gotta get my sled built.

Oh, yeah, I went through like 4 or 5 tether kill switches before finding the right one, like on Brian's sled. Here's where to get it.

WOW WAY cool, anyone tried these on Nytros yet?

if this works WAY WAY WAY cool!!!!

Hey Rob, wow, I was wonderin how you knew my name, then I put it together when you mentioned Brian. I'm stoked to roost with ya! Thanks for the kudos on the SnoMotion and tips on the parts.

Bolt that wild thing up and lets get some riding in!!

Hey, I'm gonna check with Ted about fitting his unit or the LP in Phazers and Nytros. The LP looks big, and there may be no place to hide it in these sleds. I know Ted says his is meant to go on the steering riser, so it will drain back to the engine. I'll let you know what I find out.

Sounds great, when you think you'll have your sled together? Couple more good rides left this season. I'd like to shoot some photos of you riding that souped up phazer.

Maybe Cooke city in a couple weeks? Powder should be good there for another month. Anyone else in TY land wanna set up a rendezvous!?

For sure I wanna go to Cooke, but I'm still getting parts for this build!

I just ordered the box from Ted. Turns out these boxes are not traps, but air/oil separators. If you vent from the valve cover, instead of from the oil tank like stock, you will lose much, much less oil when upside down, because these are dry sump engines. And you'll never get oil in the airbox again. Ted's box does require a small amount of custom aluminum welding so you can mount it exactly where you want, but Midwest can do it real cheap.

I will have this done in the next couple of weeks, I hope, so we will go riding before it's all done. How about a Colorado trip when it's done up here? There will be good sledding there until June.
