Starter had been gradually sounding rougher and rougher and now it turns over a bit and then just grinds. luckily we pull started it and kept riding that day(if your interested how, reply)but still bummer. Anyone been into that starter gear housing and insight on how it all works. Shop gonna work on it because of warranty. Supposed to go to Cooke this weekend...ARGH!

If you wouldn't mind elaborating on the pull start that would be great.
Thanks

Pull start a Nytro
We wrapped our nylon skier tow rope (3/4" dia) around the primary. bagn by laying it flat with a slight angle in the tail of the rope and over lapped it for grip. then about 8 wraps and let 'er rip with a slight bit of throttle. I can get ya some pic's. Worked very well.
Could have been epic tow out, but we rode all afternoon, just no shutting down the Nytro.

I didn't have the extended warranty. So I did open up my starter.

In your case, I sure Yamaha will replace it!

I remeber those old days when my pull cord would break or come off.
I always had a nylon strap about 6 feet long ready to do almost the same thing around the primary.
I didn't think there would be enough force to perform this on a fourstroke, but nice!!

Took it to dealer today; I think this is the starter gear inside, it turns over to a point, then slips & grinds. That strap idea sounds good too. Pull surprisingly wasn't too bad.
