OK guys give me a little direction. Just came across a deal on an 07 Phazer (base model) with 1700 miles. Was a dealer demo. Looks in real good shape no mechanical issues, no body or structural issues that I can see. Buying for thirty two ninety nine............. Good deal??

What do I need to look out for on these sleds? Buying for my wife to ride. She will only ride it about two to three hundred miles a year, might have my son ride occasionally too. NEED ADVISE on the machine and what i should be looking at doing to it. I was told there were five updates required too. TRUE? and what else....

thanks

There is a recall where they do a couple of things. Don't remember exactly but some bolts in the front end are changed out or something, also the latches on the air box are took off, because they were known to break off and go into the engine. The rear link in the suspension is not a recall but can be updated to the new 08 billet aluminum link, the 07 stamped steel style is known to break. Also not a recall but the 07's had an overheating issue due to the fact that the heat exchanger gets clogged under the sled with ice. A fan was placed behind the radiator to fix this problem, the sled should have this radiator, if not it will most likely overheat more often. The 08's have new mapping that improve cold start capability. As well as some springs were switched out on the 08's compression valve, or something like this which also helped cold start. Just ask if it has the cold start update kit installed, or something to that nature. Also try to see if you can get some side skirts installed for free. These skirts fill the gap between the tunnel and seat, with them there will be minimal ice buildup on the running boards, without them there will be alot of ice buildup. Also adding a large windshield and the additional GT wind deflectors keep the wind completely off you.
The price seems fair.

07 Phazer

Cool thanks tkuss. I am sure the sled will wrk out for my wife and son. Just want to make sure i am all up to speed on any of the issues all of the prior phazer owners have had. I have rode my buddies around his cabin and figured it would be a good sled for the wife, guesss i will have to see what she thinks of it.

one of those "hey hon what you think about this," purchases. The wife is away on a cruise for the week, so i get to play with sleds again this week.. :jump:

Whats the line, "it easier to ask forgiveness than permission." LaLaLa

Any other ideas on the sled please let me know.......

Probably could find a deal around $5000 for a left over 2008. $1800 is a fair chunk of change, but new is new.

I bought a left over 2007 in 2007 for $5399.00 in late January. I bet you could find the same deal or better on a 2008 left over.

Just a thought.

phazer

so what you are thinking, vmax4 is 3299 is not such a good deal for this sled?? Should I hold off and look for something else? ....... :o|

Don't know much about the Phazer sled that is why I am inquiring. I know Yamaha makes a bullet proof motor and I have not had any issues with my Nytro. Thought this looked and sounded like a good sled for the price. ????????????????????

I don't think i am going to come across an 08 for close to that.....

I think it is a fair price, espicially if it has all the updates. Maybe you can get it down to 3 thousand. One guy on this site recently bought a phazer, forget what model, but it had less than 1000 miles I belive and he bought it for like 2100$. That is a smoking deal and you most likely won't find a price like that. But I think a sled with the technology the phazer has for 3000$ is a good price. If driven sanely it will get 20 miles per gallon. Hopefully some other people will chime in here, I don't want you to go buying a sled because I said is was a fair price and such. Looking at this sled though, http://www.portyamaha.com/new_vehic...15K2008J10I47I16JAMQ31R0&veh=34826&pov=721762
it is priced quite a bit higher, but could the price could probably be dropped a bit lower. I also think if the sled is only going to be driven 300 miles or so a year, there is no need to drive anything new and fancy, so I wouldn't be looking for a new one.

Was just comparing the issues of new and used. There are people thinking they are going to sell used phazers for $5200 on ebay. There is just no way. Now the $3200, that sounds better. But still wanted you to know what it costs new. Check around. If you want a used one at a fair price, buy the $3200 one. That is a fair deal. And like others have said, lots of technology and longevity for that amount of money.

I think thats about right price for a 07.If in great shape with updates its a even better deal.If your wife drives it casually suspension should hold up and if not dealer may still warrantee it.Does it have a fan on it?I would get that updated for sure since it involves wiring if a standard model. What shocks are on it?Rear shock is way off in valving even for casual riding.Loctite and torque bolts(any you can get at)and you should be real happy with it.

Phazer

The sled has the base shock package on it. My wife is a top speed of about fifty, in the straight and flats. Don't think she will complain to much due to the fact she has been riding a z370 for the last two years. (i know another brand, but that sled was given to me, can't beat that cost)

I did tell them I wanted all the updates done on the sled and they told me they would, the service manager was complaining sayin that two of the five really did not have to be done do to them being an altitude update. Not sure on that, but I told the dealer I would put money on it tomorrow if they would do ALL the updates and throw in a couple of tunnel skirts for the sled. They were trying to rip me on an extended warranty for two years, 699. said no.

Sled

OK see if this goes through, but here is the sled.

Wife comes home tomorrow. See if she likes it. If not I know where there will be an 07 Phazer for sale. :moon:
