Spent the day after Christmas up on Tug Hill Riding. We had some rain and then very cold weather which made the trails a bit crusty. I tightened up the front sping in the skid to try to take away a little of the ski pressure. It did not work. I have Curves on my sled and the conditions most likely did not help, but after 200 miles I thought my shoulders were going to fall off. I am hoping the conditions were mostly the reason behind it. The sled tended to be a bit tippy in the corners, I am thinking the aggressive ski and conditions were a big reason behind it.

On the other hand, the trails for the most part were groomed and in great shape. There was a strech of about 15 miles of some knarly 1-4 footers and man can this sled handle it. I am beginning to love this sled. It has the power to clear a set of moguls and the suspension to handle casing the next one. My nephew was with me and he has ridden doo since he was born. He has a 600 HO with a Race skid and he was very impressed with it. Which Surprised me since he is such a loyal Doo man.

So I would love to hear some feedback about steering on the SE's I weight 210 with my gear on and ride about as aggressively as possible without ending up in the trees. Everything on the sled's suspension right now is stock because it seems to work well with my style of riding with the exception of the front spring.

Again, Could not be happier with the sled, The engine, suspension, ergo's, everything about it is awesome. I am sure a few small tweaks will take care of the streering  .

How much did you tighten the Middle Shock? I just tightened mine yesterday and Will be trying it out on Wednesday. I took my Shock all the way to 91mm which is the max according to the book. My sled has a very touchy front end as well. If this doesn't work I'm going to reduce the Carbide from a 8 inch Shaper bar to a 6 inch. I'm also running ski shavers and those will be yanked next.

same riding style and sled how many miles on urs and what kind of top speed are u getting, how much air were u running in front shocks, like my se so far just need to get it railing inorder to keep ahead of my pack, have had 15 new doo's last 15yrs, always been up front, getting way to much crap for jumping ship want to prove the crew wrong when they cant keep up and i dont have to smell oil and have a 4 yr warrantee even though i know i will still buy another new sled next yr lol

Hey SE riders. Can you tell me how your shock clicker settings have evolved from stock? Are you happy with the rear suspension? Is there anything you'd change? Do you find the three clicker rear shock is helpful?

Here's a nice review article about the SE. I'm particularly interested in the discussion about the improved rear suspension.

From all I've read the SE is the cat's meow for a Yamaha bump sled. I want to learn what I can about your SE skids so that I may improve my XTX skid.

Thanks.

Stew,
the suspension on the back of this thing is amazing. It has taken everything that I can dish out. Still working on all the adjustments. I am really happy in the stock positions, but I know that Once I get the hang of all the adjustments I will be able to quickly dial it in for any type of conditions.

mileage

have over 1600 miles on my SE. Running Ohlins up front now, Fox's don't like 30 below. Rear shocks holding up real well. Have put this sled through some pretty tough stuff and it's holding up nicely.
Mods:
extra wheels on rear skid
float plate
Ohlins / titanium springs up front
Oil lite bushing from Ulmer
Braced sub frame
Sheet metal in tunnel
reposition speedo
Roetin studs ( 96 )
This is my practice sled, will post pic's of race sled on February 7th.

I think you would want to loosen the front shock to limit the weight transfer. This will limit ski lift a bit. Also the rear transfer rods hlep this thing corner a lot better. At first I had the same problems as you but after complaining a lot and adjusting a little I found it works far better. Those conditions you describes is what was effecting your sled the most. This sled is already prone to darting and in a corner it just gets scary. After you reduce the weight transfer and get a new set of skis or carbides you'll find the cornering much more compliant.
