I didn't know about this event until yesterday.
It took five years to convince the folks that manage old Loring Air Force Base (former B-52 Bomber Base) to allow the Loring Timing Association to use the runways for land speed time trails.
This event allows East coasters an opportunity to run without traveling all the way to the Bonneville Salt Flats.
The fastest bike, a turbo Busa ran 257.813 mph.
A lady went 222 mph on a Busa.
I was shocked not to see one Yamaha in attendance and run.
Fastest vehicle ran 208.613 mph.
Hopefully this event will open up some snowmobile classes once the Gagne-Lessard G-Force sled proves itself at Bonneville on Sept 20th.
Here are some photos of todays event at old Loring Airforce Base in Limestone, Maine.

Scott Guthrie Racing
Loring start
125 cc Bike does 130 plus
Gustavson Racing Corvette ran 202 mph
A couple of Studebaker bodys ran real well.
Old roadster
Full body
"Earli Days" racer
Lady on the bike ran 222 mph the old rusty Studebaker ran 177 mph.
An old OFFY V-8 in a Model T
Hopefully next year we'll be able to see some sleds run!!! _________________ Hondo sends...

I guess I'm too old, no speed gene left.
It couldn't go 200 plus on two wheels...
Can't wait til next year to see this event grow... _________________ Hondo sends...

Great race track. What's the distance of the tarmac?
Yamahas has too little ccm to compete, and the Busa comes ready from the factory as a high speed rocket with the aerodynamics already good for 200+ mph :-) Yamaha doesn't make a straigh forward speed bike as the Busa, Yamaha high performance bikes are built for roadracing.
Great to hear you guys in the NorthEast got access to the airstrip :-) _________________ :-)
